Not really an option, unfortunately. If Jimmy is too hurt to play Thursday, the Pats are more or less obligated to bring in a QB; you never want to be one hit away from literally not having an offense. They came close enough today, and that was with a backup

Sure.. But they do get Tom back in 2 weeks, its not like you have to play a season with a backups backup.
They have 4 days and they wont bring in a QB whos better then Jacobi in 3 days. After that then you talk about 1 game... I think you take a L and then you look forward to week 4. At worst they are 2-2 when Brady returns. Honestly 3 weeks ago many would have sold it for 2-2 regardless. On top of that, Jimmy G have showed what he can do and that happens to be alot !

Why would Belichick risk just taking the L? If we hadn't had Brissett backing up Jimmy, we would've lost today. If Brissett gets hurt, having someone who can at least complete basic NFL passes could easily be the difference between a win and a loss. Last year, one game was the difference between HFA and going to Denver for the AFCCG. One game is a big deal. I can't see any scenario where Belichick risks that in order to make sure the 53rd guy on the roster isn't exposed to waivers.
