Link: All 14 Browns draft picks make 53-man roster

This is remarkable; seems like an expansion team. Either Cleveland suddenly drafts really well or ... Judging by the veteran talent they've let go, you've got to wonder. Poor Browns fans.
Culture change or an attempt at it. Get rid of everything associated with the old regime, even if a high draft pick ( Mingo, Gilbert) and start fresh. With 13 picks next year and a few extra in 2018 ( Gilbert trade plus) as long as they draft even average (i.e. don't let the homeless guys help you draft Manziel types) they should be on the way to least respectability and not teams checking off an automatic W or 2 ( if in the division) every year.

It promises to be mighty ugly for them in the meantime.

It has been mighty ugly for a long time for the "mistake on a lake"... It might get slightly worse but it seems like they are finally coming to the realization of the definition of insanity of doing the same thing again and again and expecting a different result. What is the worst that can happen?? Detroit already owns the first 0-16 season...
They will search the waiver wire for good teams cast offs but at least it seems they have a long term plan which was lacking for a long time....

Good for them. The first thing that needs to change there is the culture.
BB came here with that attitude and valued the right guy over the most talented guy.
This says Hue Jackskn gets it and the ways of the past are over. Now let's see if he can coach.
Given this transition 6 wins would be a coach if the year level job.

All I know is that I think Hue Jackson is a very good coach. So they have that going for them.

Not sure how 14 rookies is "good" for any team or necessarily changes culture for the better. What changes culture for a team like the Browns is winning. We've seen firsthand how Cleveland has questionably jettisoned talented contributors like Sheard and Mingo and a wholesale move like signing 14 rookies smacks of desperation. BB turned things around here with waiver wire veterans. It certainly will be interesting to see how Jackson fares.

14 rookies....that is terrible for their roster
For comparison, the Patriots have nine right now. 10 last year after winning the Super Bowl.

All I know is that I think...........
For some reason I find that funny.
As far as Jackson we will see but his track record doesn't suggest he will be anything special.

wow far cry from "draft day".....

They are starting over with "their guys". Bb did the same thing and won a SB in year 2.
The 2000 team was full of castoffs, rookies and street fre agents surrounding a core that bought in.

I understand that must be Jackson's reasoning, but it's a seriously risky roll of the dice toward long-term payoff. For example, imagine the cap implications in a few years if most of those rookies stick and become significant contributors. As for 2016, they're once again asking fans to be patient after many years of suffering. I don't know enough about the Browns to figure if they otherwise could've hoped to be competitive this year, but 14 rookies pretty much signals "wait 'til next year once again." As we all know, BB's renovation emphasized signing role-specific savvy veterans and spreading the wealth, which paid off quickly.

Bb started street free agents in 2000. He cleaned house and brought in no "savvy veteran role players". He did that in 2001.
In 2000 he took over a mediocre team that was headed for a long run of mediocrity and gutted it.

Are you really saying that if BB had kept:
Kgh instead of ebner
Lucien instead of harbor
Leblanc instead of King
Any rookie instead of Cameron Fleming
That he would have been giving up on the season by keeping 14 rookies?
He kept 10.

I totally disagree with that philosophy. The Patriots draft low, but still try to maintain the best roster they can, affordably. It doesn't matter if drooling idiots were making the picks in the past, you should be able to salvage some players who just weren't used properly, maybe sign some free agent role models and blend in the new draft.

I've never seen "blow it up and start over" to be a viable strategy.

Such a PR move. Browns maybe even worse off then they were before with stuff like this. Comes off like a total front office move that come hell or high water the 14 guys they just drafted had to make the team.

rookies are cheaper than est'd players.
