Imagine a tough, silent head coach who stiffs the media, aggravates key veterans, and negotiates so hard that he forces one of his best cornerbacks in a paper-thin secondary to hold out from training camp.

How delightful to see it happening to the HC of the NYJ.

From NFL.com:
First-round draft pick Darrelle Revis missed his second day of training camp with the Jets and remained unsigned.
...
The snag is reportedly in the length of the contract, and Revis and Schwartz might be using the deals signed by the two players drafted around the former University of Pittsburgh star as a reference. Steelers linebacker Lawrence Timmons, the 15th pick in April, signed a four-year deal that guarantees him $8,053,000 in bonus money and could be worth as much as $15 million. St. Louis defensive end Adam Carriker, taken a pick before Revis, signed a five-year deal.
...
Left guard Pete Kendall was back at practice, the bitter contract dispute between him and the team still unresolved.

Beautifully composed lead-in!
:)

Our camps actually going great.

Just cos Revis hasnt signed doesnt mean that our camp is in a shambles.

Hahahah sure it is! Jets are overrated and will be terrible as always. Last year was sheer luck and a weak schedule. 8 - 8 season at best :D :singing:

your camp is in New York/New Jersey, right?

Good to see thats your reasoning. very logical.

I got to admit I'm laughing at the flaming flying Elvis...

Isn't just a tad too early to say who is what? That's what the games are for.

yes, exactly.

Calling us terrible before August, after a very good off-season coming off of a 10-6 season isnt very good analysis.

How do you consider the Jets having a "very good" off-season? Because they drafted Revis and Harris? If that is all it takes to have a good off-season, then the Pats ust be mind-blowing to you.

1) Your schedule was VERY easy last year. Easier than the Pats schedule. You have an extremely tough schedule this year.

2) Your team lives and dies on Pennington's health. You know, the guy that has only had ONE healthy season in his entire career.

3) Your corners, even with Revis, are going to have a helluva time matching up against the Pats. Never mind half the other teams in the league.

4) Your best linebacker was the talk of many trade negotiations in the off-season because he couldn't pick up the 3-4 defense that well. Even with the addition of Harris, your team is frightfully thin at LB for the 3-4.

5) If your running the 4-3, then your D-line isn't exactly awe-inspiring.

6) Your OT last year was one of the worst in the division and the conference, allowing 10 sacks. Granted, he was a rookie, but I wasn't that impressed with him.

7) Your 2nd best OL (Pete Kendall) is disgruntled and wants to be traded unless his contract is upgraded.

8) Your RB is used to havign a damn good O-line in front of him. The Jets O-line is mediocre to slightly above average.

9) But your TE situation is laughable. Only Baker is any decent.

What the Jets have going for them

1) They have decent WR depth with Coles, Cotchery, McCareins and Dwitght. Stuckey was one of the players that I wanted for the Pats.

2) Nick Mangold is the real deal. He's a damn good center.

3) Leon Washington is a good change of pace back for the Jets. I know he gave the Pats fits in the rain game.

4) IF the Jets go back to the 4-3, then having Vilma, Hobson and Barton out there will be very solid.

5) Erik Coleman and Kerry Rhodes are a damn good tandem of safeties.

6) Justin Miller is a damn good return man. He just has to stay out of Mangini's dog house and learn how to actually play CB.

Guess you didnt here we go Thomas jones then, huh?

IMO the best pickup of the off-season considering we got him for almost nothing.

IF the Jets go back to the 4-3, then having Vilma, Hobson and Barton out there will be very solid.

Barton sucks, we will keep the 3-4, Bryan Thomas was amazing in it last year. As for barton Harris will replace him, and will be a very good force against the run. he compliments Vilma perfectly.

D'Brick like u said was a rookie going up against the likes of seymour, Taylor and Schobel twice a year. He should be much much better next season.

I couldnt agree more with the Penny comment, however dont kill me for assuming he'll stay healthy and at the mo thats not an issue.

Will kind of agree with the comment regarding our D-line. (We will be running 3-4. Dont know where your hearing rumours of us switching back to 4-3).D-Robs the key at NT, if he continues the improvement he showed at the end of last season we will be alright, if not Pouha may see a lot of playing time. Ellis at LE is the strength, but our weakness is no doubt RE. Kimo is a useless fat turd and should be cut. I really like Kenyon Coleman, he is suited to the 3-4 and will help us immensly IMO if he plays.

Regarding the CB situation, its fine. Dyson is a good player who was playing great before injury problems.Revis was a great pickup and step right in (if only hed get to damn camp!!).The situation isnt as bad as you make out and like u said, we have a damn good saftey tandem backing them up.

BTW Vilma was never involved in any trade negotiations that was a rumour.

I will admit the Pats also had a great off-season, never said they didnt (although they need to sort the Asante situation.)

Overall i still think our off-season was great.

Key Pickups:

Revis
Harris
Jones
Coleman
Stuckey (watch this guy)

Key Losses:

Barlow
Blaylock
Ramsey

Those key losses may help the team more than the K pickups.:D

You really are ignorant. Please see #8.

Really? You consider a 2nd round pick almost nothing? Why am I not surprised.

WOW. You think that Harris can come in and start immediately and be effective? Why am I not surprised. You do realize that Barton is an OLB and that Harris is an ILB, right?

Also, I don't believe that the Jets have enough LBs to effectively run the 3-4. Even with Thomas outside. But that's just me.

D'Brick like u said was a rookie going up against the likes of seymour, Taylor and Schobel twice a year. He should be much much better next season.

Why much much better? Who says he'll get better at all?

Other than Dyson, you're corners are mediocre at best. And, IF Revis gets into camp sometime soon, he might show enough to be a starter. But Dyson wasn't doing that great last year even before his injury.

BTW Vilma was never involved in any trade negotiations that was a rumour.

Sure it was. Just keep telling yourself that. It might actually come true some day.

Ah, jeez am gonna have fun with this one,so many flaws its funny.

T Jones was huge huge pickup, you dont even mention his name never mind how good a pickup he was.

We didnt give up a second rounder we moved down in the 2nd round. TOTALLY DIFFERENT!!

Why am I not surprised. You do realize that Barton is an OLB and that Harris is an ILB, right?

Barton played MLB last year, with Hobson and Thomas playing OLB, hence why Harris is an upgrade.

Like I said D'brick was a rookie, playing time tends to help rookies, dont underestimate how useful 1 year of experience could be to him.

Sure it was. Just keep telling yourself that. It might actually come true some day.
First of all, what the Hell does this have to do with anything, nothing happened!! hes still on our team you know.
In an interview with NFL.COM J Vilma said he had no idea about any interest from the W Redskins (the team he was linked with)
No offence but I think I'll take Vilma's word over yours.

Our CB's arent great, Im not denying that however they are much better than yours IMO(considering samuel doesnt play) and also have 2 very good safeties behind them.

Dyson - Good solid #1
Barret - was a very good #2 pre-injury, depends on how he has recovered. (looks very good in camp)
Revis - wouldnt feel comfortable with him starting as he's a no show in camp and has 0 NFL experience, could be great in the slot though.
Poteat - very useful player IMO and think he is very underated.
Miller - Lets just avoid him for now.:(

i'd start with your lack of a QB... that can be an important position sometimes! actually, where are you NOT terrible?

Ah, jeez am gonna have fun with this one,so many flaws its funny.

Considering how ignorant you are, I doubt that there are flaws. But go ahead Troll boy. I enjoy playing with ignorant tools like yourself.

T Jones was huge huge pickup, you dont even mention his name never mind how good a pickup he was.

Sorry, you exchanged picks. Still is a cost. probably a 4th round pick. And even those aren't worth nothing.

Also, I said YOUR RB, referring to Jones. So what that I didn't mention him by name. What I said still applies. Jones is used to having an excellent O-line in front of him. Not the mediocre Jets line.

Barton played MLB last year, with Hobson and Thomas playing OLB, hence why Harris is an upgrade.

Harris can't be an upgrade unless you consider Barton to be utterly worthless and dead. Harris is an unknown. Completely and totally. He's also not played in a 3-4. Michigan ran a 4-3 last year.

OH, if Barton was SO BAD, how is it that he had 100 tackles for the Jets last year as well as 3 tackles for loss and a forced fumble?

Like I said D'brick was a rookie, playing time tends to help rookies, dont underestimate how useful 1 year of experience could be to him.

First of all, what the Hell does this have to do with anything, nothing happened!! hes still on our team you know.

No offence but I think I'll take Vilma's word over yours.

Do you HONESTLY think that a GM tells a player a DAMN THING about trade talks? Particularly a player under contract for a couple of more years? As for Vilma not knowing, I'd expect him to NOT KNOW if he was invlived in trade talks. Its not like he's a 7 or 8 year vet who's been an ALL-PRO or something.

Our CB's arent great, Im not denying that however they are much better than yours IMO(considering samuel doesnt play) and also have 2 very good safeties behind them.

I am not surprised by this. You've been a complete and utter homer so far. I wouldn't expect you to stop now.

Fair enough, I'll accept that for now but someday....

.... It gonna happen.

Jets fans have been telling that to Pats fans for 38 years. Why should I believe its going to change now? Especially when the Jests have to go through the Pats to do so?
