If Jimmy Looks a Franchise QB, Would You Trade Brady?

I respect the optimism, but the truth is that we honestly have no idea what to expect. I'd have to imagine that 2-2 is a realistic possibility, but that JG will experience a lot of growing pains and poor decisions, just as well.

We may end up back at square one when all is said and done in terms of still having no solid read on his talent level or NFL starting QB capacity. Only time will tell. Here's hoping that he comes out slinging in ARZ and sets a good tone right out of the gate.

At some point the Patriots are going to have to keep a promising QB if they have one. But Brady isn't showing any signs of slowing down. So Garoppolo may not be the guy even though he may do a great job in the first 4 games.

Ha! It is a question, not a statement.....I would at least like another succession plan which isn't 'ah well, we had a good run, what else do you want to do on Sunday whilst The Steelers beat us?'

To be fair, BB will always look to the future....I can't see him wanting to have a team that sucks as he meanders to retirement.
Hopefully BB will be wiser than Spock when the time comes

So I guess this is no longer really a question at this point, right?

Nobody is giving the Patriots 3 first rounders for a 39 year old Tom Brady.

If you are the Patriots and would like to trade Brady - I know they don't but for arguments sake - you may very well be able to convince a team to take the deal for something like a 2nd (or a conditional first) + a QB + a really good player in a position of need

This thread needs to die...that being said i am not helping....oops

Not related to trading bim, but I think we need to see a TD drive or two from Jimmy G in the upcoming game. Just want a degree of comfort level from him.

You already saw one a completed TD to White, that was ripped out of his hands.

Jimmy was missing Jules, Danny, Dion and Gronk. The same will be the case on Thursday. For me, it is difficult to actually make a judgement call on Jimmy when he is playing with guys who will be on another roster or the practice squad in three weeks.

Oh...and succession planning will need to happen at some point, so the patronising smugness of some is a little daft. I do worry that this board will be a lot quieter post Brady if we go downhill and the next franchise QB just doesn't appear,

I will be here supporting the Pats until they cart me away (as I was pre Bill when all my mates thought i was a lunatic)....maybe some who say it was a daft question will be spending more times supporting the Bruins and the Sox

I would take 3 great years and 1 more SB of Brady than 6-8 decent years with no SB of Garropolo. The fascination with Garropolo is unbelievable. He's been OK, but people just think he's gonna just start ripping 14-2 records like its nothing. Let him throw a touchdown pass for cripes sake

...I shall simply refuse to relinquish the throne and....live forever...

You know what the sad truth is? Somebody like Kraft or Belichick will somehow see this thread and it will all lead to Tom being (obviously stupidly) traded. That's how things happen.

Like, James (Head to the Mountains) Orthwein devouring all the (untrue) media abuse of the Patriots and using it as an excuse to wreck our logo and uniforms in '93, faster than Irsay had the moving trucks pull out in the middle of the night to Indy, and not at least leaving behind the Colts' uniforms and legacy to the city of Baltimore. Not that I ever liked the Colts, just saying.

People who are thinking about this seriously clearly have no concept of how rare a good franchise QB is in the NFL, let alone a great one. They don't grow on trees and you sure as hell don't trade them away even if they are 39 years old when they still perform at Brady's level.

The odds of Brady playing until 45-46 at an elite level are better than the odds of Jimmy actually being a franchise QB.

why delay, just trade him now for, oh I don't know, The Titans 1st round pick for the next 10 years........
