Source: Rob Gronkowski, Patriots trying to reach new contract

It's unclear if anything is close or if they're in the early stages of the negotiations, but agents Drew and Jason Rosenhaus attended today's practice at Gillette Stadium. Bill Belichick smiled and said hello to the Rosenhaus brothers as he walked off the field after the workout.

Addendum: Rosenhaus also represents Jabaal Sheard, perhaps a correlation?

Are they really considering giving him a raise?

He's obviously worth more/deserves it, but I didn't think the Pats would be willing to increase his cap hit.

Gronk's camp knows that. They'll help offset that as much as possible.

Uh...this isn't the only bit of information is it...?

I assume that they've actually heard there's talk...?

instead of working on Gronk's contract. maybe they should work to resign players that actually have expiring contracts unlike Gronk.

Gronk is the type of talent you make exceptions for, you do not risk losing guys like him, lock him up.. Jmo

how are they going to lose him hes already locked up. if Gronk's unhappy to bad. he's lucky he got the deal he did considering his injury history. the pats need to sign Hightower collins butler Ninkovich ect. gronk needs to get in line and wait his turn.

As mentioned earlier, wouldn't a longer deal spread his cap impact allowing for more wiggle room for the other guys.. My point was that even with his injury history, his talent is undeniable and making him a Patriot for life should be one of their top priorities during current and future planning and signings.

A reworked deal for Gronk may be necessary for them to re-sign all the players they want to keep. He has some pretty big cap hits coming up.

A Gronk extension with a raise should free up several million a year over the next few years.

Go for it Gronk. Get everything you can.

Didn't know Sheard was represented by Rosenhaus.

Seems like their presence might be tied to him than Gronk.

With that said knocking down Gronks cap numbers and guaranteeing some salary might help sign the other more pressing matters

As long as Gronk respects the few negative aspects of his reality, which really are only:
  • His current contract is what it is.
  • He's somewhat injury-prone, and always will be because of how he plays.
then I don't see anything to object to in this idea.

I am happy to redo his contract. I don't care if we give him a raise but it need to be a give and take. If we give him a raise we get to add 2 more years. I think that is doable and fair and I would be happy to do it.

Yeah they have. That's just part of that long article. I guess the main part is they've started the talks. There is a part that says "nothing imminent" so there's that.

Gronk is fun. He is strong, he is powerful. He fixes things.
