I won't kill you for it. There is a fundamental dispute within American soccer wherein Klinsman believes their top young players need to play in the best leagues to become great players, and the MLS, which runs the board at US Soccer and wants to players to stay home and build the MLS. I'm with Klinsman, great players come from great competition, and don't develop to their potential without it. The MLS does not provide it and for at least another generation won't. Support them playing abroad and keep them playing in national games over MLS players who gain favor by staying home.

Ultimately it will cost Klinsman his job, but that doesn't make it right.

I can see both sides to the argument. On the one hand players would see top flight competition by playing in Europe. On the other hand the Germans and Italians have been powerhouses picking mostly from their domestic squads. I think we will see the quality truly improve when top international talent start playing for US clubs.

Problem is you're only seeing the elite international talent come here at the twilight of their careers.

Case in point Pirlo. Pirlo is still class, hes playing for NY, and I think he had expectations of making Italys squad for the Euros. Conte left him out, and cited him playing for MLS as the reason.

I get why MLS wants the Americans to stay here, but its really holding back the progress.

Dude i dont hate nobody... And i dont take anything from Messi. He is the best player now by far... But this kick in particular (in the top corner) was in the same side as the gk and after he take one side he was supposed to save any kick there.

I'm going to assume you've played football. I'm going to assume you're aware it's possible for a keeper to be unsighted. The moment the keeper fails to react, he's gone. That's the beauty of Messi's kick. He executed it perfectly.

I don't think the comparison holds. Football is highly dependent on pure athletics. Soccer is like playing a musical instrument, it's a lot about creativity and finesse.

i'm a big supporter of a local rec league in all age groups and some kids are just better than the other kids in sports. and you name it. soccer, baseball, hockey, basketball, etc. they are just better at sports at early age. and they grow up to play everything else other than soccer... that's the cold hard reality of this country.

let's say guys like adrian peterson plays soccer from day 1. even if he isn't all that creative, he can still develop proper skill sets to become a pretty good footballer. and i think guys like CP3 will thrive in soccer because some kids just have that great vision. they are just born with creativity.
