Dungy almost Quits?

It would be kind of more enjoyable if the head coach was at least a smidge hatable. I find it nearly impossible to loathe Dungy like I do Manning and his band of nerds. If they brought in some douche like Mike Martz after Dungy left I'd enjoy hating them even more.

just so long as cowher isn't his replacement

I'm not sure why you would fear the spitter...

First off, too many egos with Polian and Peyton. Second, Irsay doesn't have the money (or the stones) to pay him more than Polian. And WTH would he do with that Tampa 2 D? They'd have to completely rebuild that defense at a time when salaries are imploding and Polian's almost pathologically FA adverse, and Corey Simon recently and painfully reinforced that.

i suppose you're right. Cowher is a guy that gets plugged in as a long-term solution. The Colts are not going to be rocking the boat for the next five years while Manning is still performing at a high level. Worst scenario is if he were to become head coach of a divisional team.

I guess I would rather see someone with less competence than Cowher to assume that position.

According to many media sources around the league and even in Jerome Bettis's opinion is that Cowher is all but guaranteed going to be the next NY Giants Head Coach unless Coughlin has a miracle SB run with the Giants this season,Tom is a coach in the critical stage and Cowher has been quoted as saying he loves the NY area and the mass hysteria it gets from its fans.

Adios Dungy...if you don't quit after your son dies then you'll never quit.

I agree Dungy isnt a strong coach. I dont think Cowher is great either but if Belichick was to leave I would like him to be our coach. Only because he always has a strong defense, and I think Tom could handle the offensive side of the ball.

He isn't much of a strategic coach, but he's the only reason that defense doesn't get blown off the field every game. Very few coaches would be able to do anything with the stiffs Polian has stuck him with on D. He would be missed in Indy. I can't wait until the douche leaves.

Dungy is a tepid coach who got lucky.Let him stay with the Horseshoes forever.

Good one. Tony's record speaks for itself. 123-70 record. First NFL coach to defeat all 32 teams. The youngest assistant coach(25) and the youngest coordinator(28) in NFL history. First African-American to win a Super-Bowl. 4 of his former assistants are currently head coaches in the NFL(Marinelli, Edwards, Smith, Tomlin). Only 5 coaches reached 100 wins faster than Tony. He is the winningest coach in the league since 1999. He enters this season with a .648 winning percentage which is the best among active coaches with at least 50 wins. Whew.

Plus, he won in TAMPA. Thats enough for me. Seriously, although he may not be the tactician that BB is, his players absolutely LOVE to play for him and his defense is still pretty effective, with the right players of course.

He's much better than a "tepid" coach, IMO.

That's why all the Colts' stars take less money to play for him

There was a poll about this a while back. A bunch of players were asked who was the most player-friendly coach in the league and Tony won by a large margin. I forget who did the poll, espn maybe?

I'm just sayin.......
