As I trolled earlier.... Garoppolo to DEN for #32 - and we get to keep that pick. They're desperate enough right?
Would rather let them drop $15m+ on Fitzpatrick or pick from the Kaep/RG3 litter unless the deal includes Emmanuel Sanders too

If you're going to slam Loyko, the least you could do is do it with actual facts.

The Patriots actually have 6 WR under contract currently.
Edelman, Amendola, Martin, Dobson, Harper, and Carter.

People complain about the Patriots WR depth, but forget that the only reason it became an issue was because Edelman, Amendola and Dobson were all hurt at the same time last year. NO TEAM is going to be good when they lose 3 of their top 4 WRs and are having to rely on numbers 3,5,6,and 7. And that doesn't take into consideration that numbers 3 and 5 both played hurt as well.

So, while adding a FA WR like Jones, Benjamin, Randle, or a Sanu, Matthews, Kearse would be nice, it's not a necessity. Not when the Patriots tend towards the 2 TE set more than 4 and 5 WR sets.

Then why, by all reports, were the Pats in the mix for both Jones and Benjamin? The apparently viewed it as a "necessity" as opposed to the luxury you're making it out to be.

I don't want the 32nd pick alone. The Broncos are desperate for a QB and if Garopollo turns out to be a good QB, the Pats just saved what would be their strongest competitor (as long as they have a competent QB) from falling off a cliff. Denver would need to give up much more than that.

Olivier Vernon to the Giants

I really don't get this free agency this year. Usually we see in the first day stupid money at top talent. This year, people are throwing stupid money at mediocre to bad talent.

Huge increase in the salary cap, so every team has money to burn, not just a few.

And then how would you feel about getting bounced in the AFCCG to YOUR backup QB being carried by a historic defense?

smh

Howe just said that Sanu might still come to NE after all, but my god I hope it's not at $7m a year.

I wouldn't rule out the possibility of it being a scenario where Atlanta is offering more but Sanu likes the idea of coming to NE but it's for less so he wants to visit both.

Yeah, well that historic defense just lost a couple of significant pieces to their front 7.

Vernon.. how much 85m 52m guarenteed

If this is the type of $ going to free agent WRs, I'd rather see NE pass... Ppl on here love them some WRs, and ***** about the Patriots not having much there, but $ can be better spent.

So, after seeing the market for all of these guys and what some of the DL and LB's are getting, any posters here still holding out any hope whatsoever that the Pats will be able to retain all three of Jones, Collins, and Hightower?

Right. And let me apologize deeply to DaBruinz for forgetting about Chris Harper and Carter (I don't even remember his first name, is it DeAndre?), two players who are sitting on the fringe of the NFL.

Edelman and Amendola are of course solid NFL players, but both are injury-prone, Keshawn Martin is a below-replacement player who's primarily useful on special teams, Aaron Dobson is yet another Patriots wide receiver bust, and the other two guys are camp fodder. No one should be comfortable with this wide receiver corps as it stands, which wasn't impressive even when Amendola, Edelman, and LaFell were all healthy last season.

Christine Michael not tendered, worth a look maybe
