Diamonds in the rough

Just as the thread suggests lets compile a list of players that can be had thru free agency or trade who can be difference makers.
Your Mike Vrabels, David Pattens, Benjarvis Green Ellis's Andre Carters, Otis Smiths
Lets compile the list and uncover some Diamonds.

Mike Reiss in a recent article mentioned Chris Hogan (RFA of the Bills who may not be tendered) and Rod Streater (FA of the Raiders), both WRs. I think they would both be cheap (Hogan) or otherwise low cost (Streater) pick-ups that have potential to do pretty well. Hogan is tall and thick, likely a possession type guy like a Boldin, and then Streater is a burner (4.36 forty) but is still 6'1".

Alas, neither of these guys have torn their ACLs recently so they may not be on BB's radar.

Rod Streater is one I like a lot. He's big, fast, and has pretty good hands. He's never had a real QB either, I think he could breakout here.

Rod Streater and another chance for the Hank.

Andre Holmes?
He was here and we cut him we really need our wr talent evaluators evaluated.

Aarons Godson. The fourth year reciever I've been foolishly pimping since 2013. I heard he has has had permanent casts placed on both feet to ensure that there will be no further injuries. This is the year he stops being Charmin soft and plays 8+ games.

Yeah I've been following Holmes ever since he went undrafted in 2011. I thought that he was one of the best UDFA WRs post-draft. I was glad to see him signed here, then sad that he was released in favor of inferior talent.

2 OLmen I wouldn't mind here that won't break the bank and who would be fine backups are Will Beatty
(if his rotator cuff & torn pectoral are healed) and local dude Mackenzy Bernadeau. Bernadeau could be
a 5-position backup, and Beatty the Swing Tackle. If Beatty becomes unavailable, then perhaps former #1 overall pick Jake Long could be Plan B.

They don't want Hankerson, WR's that can't catch are useless.
The Hankerson thing was interesting. He was here a few weeks and then the Bills snatched him away for what, 2 weeks? If only so NE couldn't have him available to them for their playoff run.

The Patriots released him. Like many free agents during the season they checked him out and let him go. It's the Patriots version of catch and release.

I could be wrong, but it seemed like one of those things where they were making room for another move but may have brought him back soon thereafter; however, Buffalo claimed him on waivers.

I honestly beleive Belichick thought he could sneak him thru waivers to give Harper the nod due to playbook knowledge.
If this was the case it was a miscalculation.
I recall Belichick speaking glowingly about how you dont get talent like Hankerson this far into the season.
O well wouldnt mind double dipping in Oakland with Holmes and Streater.
Like a broken record I want to see Justin Hunter on our 90 man roster just because if nothing else I am stubborn.

Actually had a year where he had near 900 yards with Oakland before getting injured the last year or two.

That's possible we just don't know why they released him and I tend to believe that receivers with a track record of bad hands aren't a fit in NE once they have been in the league a while and that criticism sticks its unlikely to change. They just tried it with Chandler and it didn't work, and that's at TE where blocking could save him.

Yeah, that's just how I remember it. He has pretty good size and speed but has shown poor hands overall in his time in the NFL. I would still take him in TC on a near minimum contract though.

Streater a guy they were paying 2.5 million a year in Oakland and was inactive for just about every game last year?? Is there a backstory here?? Need more info..

Considering the state of QB'ing in the NFL.. not sure that Derek Carr would be considered a "poor" quarterback..
