Would anyone kick the tires on RB Arian Foster?

Look LGBs YPC and tell me we NEED someone else

We don't

Pats aren't trying to deceive defenses when it comes to guessing pass or run

They just need to protect Brady and stay heathy, and nobody is stopping them

The reason the Pats weren't trying to deceive defenses with the running game is because they couldn't. They didn't have the player that kept the defense from committing to the run or the pass.

And it isn't so much that we NEED a player like Forte, it's that if we can land him at the projected cost, to me it's a no brainer. No one is screaming that we must trade our entire draft to Minnesota for Peterson. We're talking about a player that could be a big upgrade to our offense at a bargain for what he could bring.

Eh, I personally don't think any RB makes a difference between winning a SB or not.

That's an overly simplistic viewpoint. It's not just about winning 3 playoff games, it's about the entire season. It's about making your team as strong as possible.

Do you think the AFC Championship game might have gone our way if it was played in Foxboro? Is it possible a better running game last season could have gotten us 1 more win and given us HFA?

Again, it's too easy to say a RB won't matter. Every team is different. We won Super Bowl 36 with almost no production from the TE position before the playoffs. Do we win Super Bowl 49 without Gronk?

Possible? It's a slam dunk that we'd have hosted the AFCCG with any semblance of a running game once Blount went down.

I agree with your thoughts.

I disagree 100%

Lewis got hurt, Edelman got hurt, Gronk got hurt, the line was pathetic.....

They were unstoppable when healthy, and they weren't unstoppable because of the running game

The contributions of Dion Lewis most certainly helped them get off to a good start over the first half of the season. As a matter of fact, he was on pace for 80+ catches (regular season), and would've been a major difference down the stretch and in the postseason.

This year saw the lowest rushing output in any of Belichick's 15 seasons here in N.England. Claiming that the lack of running game didn't hurt is borderline absurd. Just one win in the DEN, PHI, NYJ, or MIA games and we host the conference championship game, where we most likely return to the Super Bowl.

As far as debating what RB should be brought in--that's a futile exercise that will differ depending upon personal opinion.

The important aspect is that the position of RB needs to be addressed one way or another, and while a guy like LaGarrette Blount is fine depth for cheap money (certainly no guarantee to make the 53 man roster), they still need to bring in another back. Whether that's done in free agency or not is irrelevant, and we all trust Belichick to make the best decision, but adding any number of backs for reasonable money should be something that is seriously considered.

The line sucking had more to do with the running game that the actual backs did....

I think you're right that they obviously go hand in hand together, but there was certainly a clear lack of talent at the position of running back as well, and that was before Blount went down. Once he became injured, the whole position was completely non-existent.

When we're all hoping that Brandon Bolden sees more carries, you know that something is wrong.

I don't care how they address the position, whether that's through FA or the draft--but they certainly need to add someone else, and I'm guessing that Belichick realizes that.

Yeah, I'm not sure I get the need by some to stake out some absolute claim on various points--it's like a talk radio syndrome. You can discuss the overall relative importance of a running game, or the level of the Pats success & need there, but of course it's important to have some level of a running threat, and of course the Pats need an upgrade. I mean, come on now.

Well, he wasn't in the top 20, but OK.

The random "lol" at the end of your post makes you sound a little crazy, by the way.

I do it because it irritates people and makes me look like I'm laughing at you, lol

It works!

No, I haven't posted one thing I don't believe to be true

Put your big boy panties on, seriously. Stop acting like a little girl

I have no time for immature people who can't handle a joke, or handle a different opinion

Right now Arian Foster still > Dion Lewis yeah Patsfans.
