It's easy, and only takes a few moments.I'm opposed to anything that weakens this team going into next season and for that reason I have been opposed to the idea of trading Jones for a pick. That said the idea of signing Williams for the money They may be considering using on Jones and then trading Jones for a good pick makes a ton of sense to me. They would get a better player for essentially the same money and upgrade with the pick. I have serious doubts that the Patriots would be the high bidder for Williams and see a team like the Raiders as a much more likely outcome but the idea is really appealing. They are going to have to move fast to make the numbers work so they can address the offense early in free agency and makes a move like this but hopefully the pundits are right for once.
Trade Jones for some much needed draft capital and sign Mario. The money situation will remain similar and you probably have a better player as well.
eh, I'm not a fan of signing Williams. By all accounts he quit on the Bills last year, and while he may be one of those guys that's motivated by being in a winning situation (Corey Dillon), I wouldn't feel comfortable betting on it for even the low end of what he'll command.
OK but why doesn't the team trading for Jones sign Mario instead w/o losing draft picks?
The same can be said of Ninko. If we were to do something drastic like let them both go like we did our starting safeties in 2011, I think we would actually make out the same or better by the end of the year with big savings. At this point I would rather have Williams over Jones. Jones is a probowl player during the season and becomes a jag/scrub during the playoffs. 2015-2016 wasn't the firs time he has disappeared when its one and done.
