So my wife and son were off from school today and I took the day off so we all went to Lowry Park Zoo here in Tampa (great place if you ever visit). I'm always decked out in Pats gear and my son was today as well. We got a few Go Pats comments and at the petting zoo I was talking to a Steelers fan, both of us lamenting their loss yesterday.

At one point we were walking along and I see this kid looking at me, he was wearing blue and red and I heard him say something Patriots so I smiled because I thought he was a Pats fan. Then we got closer and I could hear him yelling boooo Patriots. And then he looks at me and says the Broncos are gonna crush the Patriots next week. I started laughing hysterically and I turned to my wife and son and said this kid is funny.

Then my son who is 6, without any prompting from me, yells at the kid, Broncos Suck!

My wife of course was mortified that her 6 year was yelling suck but I couldn't help but feel great pride in my heart. It brought a tear to my eye LOL. My son is otherwise a very nice and well behaved little boy but don't talk crap about his team especially when we're just minding our own business.

Sure he is. Children learn what they live. Unfortunately, discretion comes later...usually after a beating or two.

  • Man shot outside Cowboys' AT&T Stadium after game dies ...
  • Arrowhead homicide: NFL fan killed outside Chiefs stadium ...
  • Chicago Bears fan stabbed to death in Jacksonville - NFL.com
  • Fans Dies At NFL Game: Man Ejected From Buffalo Bills ...

Seems like you're raising a hooligan. Twelve years from now you'll be posting his bail. ;)

you are doing something right !

Way to kill the mood, bud.

Broncos/Broncos fans might have taken the #1 spot for my most hated.

It was at the zoo? Why didn't you throw him in with the lions?

Ok I'm sorry, too dark

Must be nice to live in Tampa.
You clearly don't live in NYC, where rule #1 that I taught my kids at an early is "don't engage" with kids you don't know when they are argumentative or hostile.

That is fantastic. I love this story and I can't like it enough. Moments like this make me want to have a child one day. :D

NOW you tell me this after a lifetime of being chased out of San Diego stadium, emptying the opposing company softball team's bench chasing me into the woods with bats....

Raising him right, that's right!! Be proud my man!

I unfortunately am in the opposite situation... I don't have any kids of my own, I have one step-daughter from my wife... I have been trying for a couple years to get her hooked on the Pats, until one day she comes home from a weekend at daddy's house. Apparently, unbeknownst to me, daddy is a Broncos fan. So now my little angel is all about the Broncos. It kills me inside.

I tell her the Broncos are terrible every time she brings them up, though. Maybe that's wrong but oh well. It's hard to argue against a team whose mascot is a pony to a 6 year old girl. Hoping Brady can do me a solid and give them a proper shaming this weekend.

OP- that made me laugh out loud. Freakin' awesome. Raisin' that boy right. My 11 year old son is always coming home with tales of other kids calling Pats cheaters. He doesn't ever need to fight , though, since I've given him enough verbal ammo to shut em all up. I view all us "expatriated" Pats fans around the country as the military arm of Patriots Nation- behind enemy lines, fighting the good fight, representin' with pride. I wear my Pats gear way more down here than when I'm back up in Boston, visiting my kinfolk. Really want this SB bad this year. Hmm- I guess that's every year.

Just bats, huh? Count your blessings. In NYC, it might be with Glocks.
