Foxboro cops: Pats' Chandler Jones sought medical help early Sunday

Beside the point. Will not necessarily be either or for Pats, and it will hurt Jones with whatever team he is negotiating with.

I disagree because it's the NFL and players who have done more and actually tested positive for drugs have gotten big deals. He also isn't a UFA till March 2017. A lot of things change in a year.

.....and on schedule, SMY is now getting into Twitter fights with the select idiotic 2% of the base which thinks it's fine and dandy for Chandler Jones to have been ingesting this crap 6 days before a playoff game.

I fail to understand why she always wants to engage the gutter trash of society.

PatriotsSB50 is a good twitter feed but he's way off on that estimate of how much this will cost Chandler.

Worse players have done worse and still received a big contract.

Some claim to have had an amazing experience but I've never seen it. It's like a five minute mushroom trip that's 75% bound to go wrong.

I don't understand why people smoke synthetic weed. The natural stuff isn't that hard to get...and it's much better.

Me either.

Then again I'm the guy over here butchering street names so....hahaha

Whether it is saliva or spice/k2 with all the freakout vids on Youtube....I will continue to avoid.

Herb and wax are enough for me.

If I recall correctly Marcell Dareus was arrested and suspended for Spice possession in 2014.

Anyways regardless of the legalities that **** is way more dangerous than normal weed.

He was suspended for getting arrested, not the fake weed.

6 days before a PLAYOFF GAME, patsrock. Did you not READ what this stuff can do to someone's body and mind????

What is this guy doing playing Russian Roulette with himself when an organization is relying on him?

That's Pacman Jones-like decision making.

Let's put it this way - - - it's far worse than Jonas Gray being 5 minutes late to ONE meeting.

I had to unfollow her because I got really tired of her constant twitter fights with obvious trolls. Which is sad because, overall, I really like her. But it's depressing seeing how susceptible some people are to comments. When I told her I was unfollowing her because I couldn't stand to watch someone I respect fall for obvious trolls she replied and said she was sorry but she'd never apologize for standing up for her beliefs.
Which just goes to show how much of the point she's missing.

My gut feeling is you'd be shocked at how many players are "ingesting this crap 6 days before a game (playoff or not)". That's coming from someone (me) who has never tried any illegal drug and rarely has a beer. But I bet a ton of players smoke pot in season.

there is an NFL substance abuse policy, collectively bargained, that prescribes discipline for using anything on a long list on banned substances.

Unless Synthetic Marijuana has been added to the banned substances list in the last two years,
no league discipline is possible
, according to the NFLPA

Kellen Winslow was arrested for using Synthetic Marijuana in January 2014 (link below) and at that time we were told:

“Synthetic marijuana is not on the NFL’s list of banned substances.”

“Our drug policy is one that has strict and well-defined drugs that are banned,” union boss DeMaurice Smith said, via NJ.com. “If they are not on the list, they can’t serve as the basis for discipline.”

6 days before a PLAYOFF GAME, patsrock..

I don't think anyone's saying what he did is fine or cool or won't be something of an issue for him when it's time to renegotiate his contract, but if people really think this is going to cost him 10-15m in potential earnings I think they're overreacting.

Again still has a year to UFA. How can anyone say he has lost $10-$15 million on his next contract a year out from UFA? He hasn't been suspended, hasn't missed a game because of this situation.

While this drug doesn't fall into the banned substance list and therefore this incident shouldn't lead to a suspension, I hear there is an Integrity of the Game clause backed by Article 46 of the CBA.

Is there a chance he doesn't start? (Shades of Wes Welker being benched to start the Divisional disaster against the Jets).

What a country. Ban something with hardly any detrimental effects (other than impairing you for driving) and then allow a dangerous substance that tries to emulate the illegal organic substance.

Tell us more!

Why not just smoke weed like I'm sure plenty of NFL players do? Fail one drug test and stop or something...spice is some crazy **** on the level of bath salts. Definitely not worth it. Of course, he could have just resisted the urge to get high outright.

Definitely. Especially considering Sheard is a better player and Ninkovich is the anchor at LDE anyway.

I think the TIMEFRAME is the key here.

Some of those guys may have done it early in a season or during an offseason.

Chandler Jones had to be rushed to a hospital 6 days before a playoff game.

I'm sorry, but that is way worse. That is letting your team and every employee who works for it down.
