Will probably get lost in all the Steelers-Bengals ridiculousness plus the two other playoff games later today, but I found this piece interesting - it says Philbin essentially thought Tannehill sucked and never wanted him at QB, and tried to get the team to take Derek Carr in the first round in 2014 to replace him, but was overruled and eventually canned.

I always love it when pieces like these come out after a coach is fired because:

1) It shows the coach that got fired was right
2) The team that just fired the good coach made a mistake... and that team is in our division.

Disliked him? Did he at least reply to Tannehill and give him a reason for the dislike??? COWARD
Word is that Philbin tried to blame his dislike on "fat thumbs", but it didn't save him.

I'm not sure that Carr is the answer, but I'm pretty damned sure that Tannehill is not. If Philbin really wanted to do what's claimed, that would have been one interesting draft, with Carr and Landry going 1 and 2 for the LOLphins.

Yeah, I mean I don't know if Philbin was that great but I would definitely rather have Tannehill in the division than Carr...

More proof that Philbin was not the Dolphins' problem. Not saying I'm a fan of the guy but Ireland and now Tannenbaum are the ones we have to thank for their ongoing incompetence, imo.

Often, it seems, personnel OVER the coach is the problem in disfunctional NFL offices. Teams that suck at choosing players suck on the field as well.

As long as Tannenbaum is not on the Patriots, I'm overjoyed if he remains in the AFCE.

I always find it interesting, to say the least, when you've got teams who treat their GM and HC hires as separate entities... As though they operate independently. One thing that's pretty evident on successful teams are the people in those two roles working with the same vision (often being the same person)...

It seems in most jobs/organization, it's management that destroy the culture of the work place. The people on the ground who are the ones actually making things or providing service almost always know what's best for the organization going forward. Management often can kill morale with bad hires that good employees are forced to work with.

So why do I care what Regis Philbin thinks... Oh wait. Never mind.
