Ever heard of the term "live to fight another day"..? You are jumping to extremes. It doesnt have to be either they go all out or they lay down during the finals weeks. Its called managing the game.
AGAINT THE DOLPHINS? We have to live to fight another day instead of beat the Dolphins? That is supposed to make me confident. "Hey guys lets not push it against the Dolphins, lets wait for an easier game" Ugh.
They will have Edelman, Amendola, Chandler, Vollmer back in two weeks and that will change how the offense looks. Now how much it changes remains to be seen, but I will bet my entire life savings that Brady will not have only 5 pass attempts at half time in two weeks.
How do you know those guys will be back? We needed them yesterday and they couldn't play.
If they had the pieces they needed to be more effective on offense, they wouldve been more effective on offense these past few games. Bill did what he felt was necessary to give this team a reasonable chance to win and yet still not push his luck anymore with further injuries, setbacks etc
So you agree that the offense is so bad it shouldn't even try??????? And that's supposed to make me feel better?
Both the Jets and Dolphins games were within reach of winning going in to the 4th quarter or overtime, so obviously Bill at least wanted a chance at winning those games, just not at the risk of further damaging the team when it needs to focus on getting healthy and rested and already had at least a 2 seed locked up.
That makes no sense. If all he cared about was health, he would have sat Brady and Gronk. McCourty and Chung would not have come back yesterday.
You want to believe we just chose to not try. I don't buy it.
I am not by any means saying they should just be happy with past accomplishments and call it a season, nor am I saying everyone needs to be positive and act like its going to be fine. You need to be rational in situations like these and understand that this team is better than any other at overcoming tough situations and until they prove me otherwise I will continue to hope for the best and not jump to conclusions.
No this team isn't. Past Patriot teams were. This one is not acting like any of those. Not even close.
They proved otherwise to me vs Denver, Philly, the Jets and Miami. They shouldn't have lost any of those games much less all 4, and the cost of losing all 4 is horrible.
Think about this. 3 challenges:
1) You play Houston, Tennessee, Philly, Miami, the Jets (who hadn't beaten a single team with a winning record all season) and Denver. You only have to go 3-3 and you get HFA.
2) You have to beat EITHER the Jets or Dolphins
3) You have to beat 3 playoff teams in a row
We choked up our lunch on the first 2, and the 3rd is 1000 times harder.
