Per @AdamSchefter, Miami is requesting HC interviews with Josh McDaniels & Matt Patricia, among others.

Could see McDaniels taking a job with a team that has little to do with #Patriots: Titans, Giants, 49ers, Eagles. But not a rival

— Ben Volin (@BenVolin)

Especially after Belichick welcomed McDaniels back into the family after he left for the #Broncos job

Really do not want to lose Patricia. Potential BB successor.

Josh leaving soon is inevitable. Don't really care where he goes.

Josh moving on I can live with. I like him but BB, Brady and Daboll can get the job done.

Patricia......he make look like a cast member from Duck Dynasty but if he walks that'll hurt.

I think the Titans and Giants jobs are the ones that would make the most sense for him. Weak divisions, incumbent QBs that don't totally blow... I would go all out for NYG if I were him. Good ownership. They gave Coughlin a lot of leeway for a long time.

(I realize he is a two time SB champ, but he realistically could have been fired for a few years now, and wasn't.)

I don't think either are stupid so Miami would be a complete no go for them.

Absolute horror of a franchise and TannenBUM in charge? That franchise is a place to go if you want your career to die.

Good post. I agree 100% . Im a Coughlin fan but he was done after 2013. He hung around a year too late. Reese has been plain ole bad these past two years as well. Has only OBJ to show for it and anyone could have made that pick.

Josh would be best served going to TN. Not sure how well Mariota would handle JMDs offense.

Especially for McDaniels who has already failed once as a head coach. You don't typically get three gigs if your first two went poorly. He needs to be VERY discerning with where he goes.

i don't think the giants would be a good fit for josh. I bet they keep the OC and josh is going to want his own system. Making Eli reboot AGAIN isn't in the giants card imo.

Can anyone tell me why Coordinators are never worthy any compensation to the team they get hired away from?

Is it just a standard contract thing that they can leave for a better position at any time during the off season?

I know its biased of me to want this, but I just feel that if a Headcoach is worth a 1st or a 2nd then losing your Coordinators to become someone else's Headcoach is worth a 3rd or a 4th from them. The loss of continuity is a real handicap imo.

Yeah, don't care for McDaniels. Maybe I'm being harsh but it's easy to be a good OC when you've got Brady, Gronk, Edelman, Lewis, Blount, Amendola and a healthy O line. When he's really had to show his inventiveness and supposed ingenuity, when the injuries piled up, all he could come up with is telegraphed swing passes and inside handoffs. That's not good enough in my opinion. I'm no "chicken little" but 3rd & 15 inside your own 10 yard line when you're behind in the 4th and need to win for home field advantage, and you choose to run straight down their throat. Really? Come on now.

Patricia would be a loss though...

Giants would be a good fit for Josh; Eli, Cruz and Beckham are a good Offensive Core...

has to be an job upgrade. It's a fair working conditions type of thing, I'd imagine if you are an OC and the team you work for blocked your ability to move up to head coach, that as an OC you might not give it the same amount of effort that you would have.

No way McDaniels goes to the Dolphins, too much instability there. My guess would be he ends up with the Giants.

You can't get out of your contract for a lateral move, but you can for a promotion. So if a coordinator is offered a HC job, he can always take it. Overall I'm in favor of this policy, and am glad that coaches are free to maximize their responsibilities and career potential in this way.

Which just makes the stunt the Jets tried to pull to keep Belichick out of New England all the more BS. **** them.

McDaniels will be a HC soon. BB will support him, because that is what he is striving for.
I just hope that Brian Daboll gets another teams OC job before McD leaves, because he will destroy our offense.

So they deliberately injure our QB and now want our offensive coordinator?

Why does Daboll suck? You can't hold those crap offenses in NYJ, KC and CLE against him....

You can't hold all of the offenses he coached against him? Really. So Marvin Lewis is just as good as BB because you can't hold having teams that can't win playoff games against him?

Tell me what Daboll has done that makes him good? Isn't a coordinator supposed to make the unit good by coaching and developing the talent?
