Matt has written a superb article regarding the Concussion movie and how closely connected he is to some of the key characters. As usual Chatham writes in a descriptive manner which includes his personal views and thoughts with powerful emotional background. It is a must read. IMO

Truly excellent. MC is about the most interesting and intelligent commentator on football around at the moment and this article is written with real passion.

His personal connection to Dr. Pellman, who was the team Doctor while he played with the Jets, was interesting. He seemed to like Pellman but realizes that he may have been used as a tool in the concussion saga.

Setting aside the merits of this investigation in that video - isn't goodell the worst, bumbling, lying witness you've ever seen before congress?

She's awful too, by the way.

He lost me when he started his article off by praising Mel Gibson's anti-semitic porn.

Love Chatham, but hard to take his movie review seriously after that opening.

No, what's hard is taking anything you post seriously after you came out with that nonsense. He was pointing to a connection felt with a movie, not offering a review of said movie.

Your bigotry is noted, though.

Calling out anti-jewish propaganda created by a known anti-semite for what it is does not make me a bigot, Deus, my dear friend.

Well....I would be surprised if Matt Chatham was an anti-semite and the article he wrote regarding the Concussion movie was quite good and had a rather unique point of view. If you can get past the first paragraph you might find yourself enjoying the article.

One other thing. Matt does mention smashing a popcorn box. Not sure if that would offend anyone or not but thought in light of the circumstances I should put that out there.

So reader beware.

I am sure Matt is not an anti- semite. I surely did not mean to suggest that he is. Back on topic, courageous choice of subject matter by the films producers, but i think it will really struggle at the box office.

Hopefully this will help illustrate one of the great frauds of the NFL front office, which is the corruption of the employee selection process by Jets employee favoritism. That hasn't gotten enough attention through all of the various controversies.

I did a search on for the ESPN article about Gerald Maher, the Dentist from South Weymouth who did the custom molded mouth guards that help prevent concussions. It was written in February 2006, before the 2009 hearings that Chatham posted.. In fact, Chatham is quoted in the article about how the device worked.

NFL Won't Bite on Dentist Concussion Device

It should be noted that Pellman is talked about in this article as having dissed Maher several times by not taking phone calls, rescheduling them at the last minute and just plain not listening to Maher talk to him.

Gregg Easterbrook (of all people) also wrote an blurb about Concussions on November 17, 2009. It's buried about half way down the TMQ page, but he takes it one step further and mentions the Study that Maher did to show how his mouthguards performed better.

ESPN TMQ

The link to Dr. Maher's study. The study was published on July 9, 2009 :
Customized mandibular orthotics in the prevention of concussion/mild traumatic brain injury in football players: a preliminary study - Dave Singh - 2009 - Dental Traumatology - Wiley Online Library

I could have sworn that Tagliabue put Goodell as over-sight for the NFL's Concussion group.. but I can't find anything on it..
