Jests Name Mo Lewis as Honorary Captain on Sunday

If they're trying to troll the Pats, it's pretty weak. He should be the Pat's honorary captain.

Yeah i was thinking maybe they are sending a subtle message that Brady would be nowhere without mo Lewis. I mean mo Lewis is not exactly a jets legend - why else would they make him honorary captain?

When did they rehire Rex?

Actually, this type of BS is meaningless. Mo Lewis was a great player. If they want to remind themselves how that fluke hit result caused them to be dominated for over a decade, it suits me.

We had a really good poster here and I always hated that user name . It's a violent enough game without celebrating players almost getting killed.

Never said it because, like i said, really good poster. I'll give a shout out.

We love Mo Lewis!

The hit that started a dynasty.
I'm as happy as anybody that the Dynasty was born and that Brady got the chance to start that Belichick said a few years later TB had actually earned by beating out Bledsoe in Training Camp....but Drew nearly died from that hit, so I don't have any "love" for Lewis.

Bledsoe was a great Patriot...not, as it turned out, anywhere near as great a player as Brady....but he was still a great Patriot. I can't "love" the guy who nearly killed him...

Yes, I actually challenged him on that both out here and in PM's. He was a great poster and I liked everything about his presence here but his user name.

Someone said (but I have no other way of knowing this) that he had passed away and that makes me sad. RIP.

I'm not a troll....

That would be like giving the Medal of Honor to a soldier for going behind enemy lines and then accidentally giving the enemy blueprints on how to construct nuclear weapons.

Every way you look at this, it's a Jests fail.

Even Rich Cimini, long time Jets beat writer and now BSPN writer, writes:
Every Jets fan over the age of 30 will see Lewis at midfield for the coin toss and think back to that fateful day in Foxborough -- and the ensuing 15 years of torment.

This is akin to bringing back Mark Sanchez in a dozen years or so to be the pilot for a Thanksgiving night game against the Patriots. Bad karma, right?

Ref: Curious timing by Jets: Mo Lewis a 'captain' with Tom Brady in house

On the one hand, it is pretty sleazy to name a guy as captain whose most well known accomplishment is injuring another player.

On the other hand, that hit was probably one of the best things that ever happened to any franchise in the history of sports, so (as others have pointed out) if anything, he should be our honorary captain.

the hit led to the greatest thing that happened to the Pats, but saying it like that is taking an indirect swipe at Bledsoe which I would hate to do.

Hopefully BB uses it as bulletin material

The key thing to realize is the only reason we're talking about it is the idiot Jets seem to think it was worthwhile to bring it up.
