Given the injuries, etc, here's how I rank the top 12 teams.

1. Carolina - 14-0, hard to put anyone else above them right now
2. New England - 12-2, if they get healthy, they're the best overall team in the league
3. Arizona - 12-2, lost a key defender to injury this week
4. Seattle - 9-5, and coming on like a freight train
5. Pittsburgh - 9-5, and also on a roll
6. Denver - 10-4, but showing signs of real problems; we'll see how the next 2 weeks play out
7. Kansas City - 9-5, but very possibly could pass Denver
8. Cincinnati - 11-3, but playing a backup QB, and face Denver this week
9. Green Bay - 10-4, righting the ship, has the #3 seed locked up
10. NY Jets - 9-5, could end up 11-5 and miss the playoffs
11. Minnesota - 9-5, pretty solid overall team
12. Houston - 7-7, probably will win the AFC South

Not on the list:
- Washington - 7-7, but might be there in a couple of weeks
- Atlanta - 7-7
- Indianapolis - 6-8
- NY Giants - 6-8
- Philadelphia - 6-8

The playoffs really could be a battle, as the better teams emerge. I see the Divisional Round looking like this:

NFC
Seattle at Carolina. Two-time defending NFC champs against the unbeaten Panthers. Both teams and both QBs playing great.

Green Bay at Arizona. The Cards are better, but Aaron Rodgers is always very dangerous.

AFC
Pittsburgh at New England. Roethlisberger and those receivers against Brady and the Patriots' improved secondary.

Kansas City at Denver. AFC West showdown. Will Osweiler or Manning be the QB? If I read it right (Denver winning the AFC West), it'll probably be Brock.

Those are four outstanding games, if they happen.

GB has been playing better ever since they decided to get the RB involved that helped them win their first Super Bowl: James Starks.

Always good to reflect on the fact that, as of now, maybe 5 teams have a reasonable hope of winning the Super Bowl, and the Pats are of course one. Meaning about 85% of pro football fans don't have that hope.

Whatever the number of Super Bowl wins Brady and Belichick end up with, that's the enduring legacy--heading for two decades of always having a legitimate chance to win it all.

I'd put GB and nyj ahead of KC

That was quite the backfield they had: Paul Horning, Jim Taylor, Elijah Pitts and James Starks!

Hahaha my bad. I meant to say "Rodger's first Super Bowl"

I'm not a believer of the Vikings. They're not going to win at GB

The Cardinals need to watch their step. If GB wins in ARZ this weekend, the Cards will probably need to win against the Seahawks the next game or they'll lose the bye. The Seahawks will also be super motivated week 17 if the Vikings beat the Giants this weekend. They'll be fighting for the #5 seed and a favorable matchup against the "Washington Football Team" or the Eagles in round 1.

The NFC has some real powerhouses this year. Carolina, Arizona, and Seattle are all playing like the best team in football with dominance on both sides of the ball. The Patriots are the only AFC team that has very strong units for both offense and defense.

Yep, the proverbial 'easy road to the SB' vs a conference of juggernauts.

That said, five or six weeks ago it was looking like Arizona was legit but otherwise Carolina hadn't been challenged by a real team, GB was a mess, Seattle was floundering. Meanwhile NE, Denver and Cincy all looked like world-beaters (well, Denver's D at least did).

I think tracking the recent trends, both KC and Pittsburg look very strong and dangerous. I'd say those two, NE, Denver (depending on what kind of QB play they get down the stretch) and Cincy (contingent on Dalton forms a very, very strong AFC field.

It'll be interesting--to me--to see two things: Arizona without Mathieu, how does the defense look without him? Carolina, do they try to remain undefeated and if so do their starters slow down any/look like they're succumbing to the pressure? Those two, Seattle and GB form a strong contingent in the NFC but I don't think it's much better than the AFC crowd at the top pending Denver's QB situation and Dalton.

Wikipedia says they had the worst YPC in football that season, and Wikipedia is always right
Total rushing yards 8/15 but YPC 13/15. Steelers were dead last in the pre-Noll area......
AS for wiki .....well I wouldn't bet the mortgage payment on its accuracy....

This is all pretty much mental masturbation. The ONLY power ranking that matters even a jot is the one that comes after week 17. At THAT point we can do all the speculating we want about who the Pats might play or which teams look the toughest.

BTW- I hear a awful lot about how much better the NFC is than the AFC, yet I'm pretty sure if you look at the won/loss record of games between the AFC and NFC, I'm pretty sure the AFC teams are winning a majority of those games
