OT: Odell Beckham

Beckham is completely full of it by saying he felt threatened by the baseball bat. He played like a punk the entire game and is desperately trying to find some excuse for his behavior

That said though, I don't understand how the NFL allows the Panthers to run around the field swinging baseball bats before the game. This is the same league that fines players for wearing their socks too high, and doesn't permit players to wear pink wristbands outside of their money-making cancer awareness period.

The Giants search for an excuse will probably, and ridiculously, put an end to the practice of having a bat on the field. I'm just wondering why the Giants aren't willing to sit back and take one for the league on this. After all, isn't that what we were told Kraft was supposed to do about deflate gate?

Beckham is def full of it. Id respect him much more if he would just come out and say he got caught up in the emotions of the game. **** happens even to the nicest guys, see Andre Johnson beat the snot out of Cortland Finnegan. Who BTW surprise surprise was in the middle of this mess too.

With that, the video Charlotte Pats fan posted below shows he was jawing with whoever had the bat from Carolina, and they got face to face. This started pre game. I have no doubt Carolina was pointing the bat to the Giants and talking smack.

My opinion? I feel Beckham should have gotten a 2 game suspension, and Norman and the Refs a one game suspension. Big fines also. The refs lost control of that game early on and allowed it to escalate. About as poor of a job you can do officiating. They allowed this to happen by not ejecting both players.

And the NFL should ban baseball bats for coming on to the field. For no other reason then it being dumb and pointless.

You want to intimidate opposing teams by signaling your gonna "bring the wood"? Go all Hacksaw Jim Duggan on their ass and bring a 2x4...

Every NFL fan has their most notorious botched call.

More than a few settled on a new No. 1 after watching Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr., try to separate Panthers cornerback Josh Norman from his senses in the third quarter of Sunday's game, and get flagged for nothing more serious than unsportsmanlike conduct on the spot.

Not me. My all-time blown call remains that August 2006 afternoon when the league's owners met at a suburban Chicago hotel and elected Roger Goodell as commissioner.
Dirty hit shows NFL's failure

Speaking of dumb and pointless.. well, you just described the NFL front office. To them, deflated footballs are much more dangerous than baseball bats.

Some of these former players on ESPN saying that he shouldn't be suspended, that are saying " he's defending his manhood" , are they joking? Is this what to expect from the new generation? So, my god, sensitive that " sticks and stones " no longer applies?
Carolina just showed the blueprint to completely break down that dude, mentally weak.

Odell ***** did it to Butler too

Unless he's gay, its doesnt matter. Only a gay person would be offended by homophobic slurs.
Further discussion of this probably belongs in a Political Forum, but, IMO, homophobic, racist and other forms of bigoted slurs offend everyone. In this case, however, I would probably concede that the offense allegedly taken by some of the Giants players was most likely not taken for such noble reasons.

This damn story is annoying ....
#OdellPantyWaistGate.

More annoying than the Dolphin's #BullyGate.

The middle aged retired players must roll their eyes at this drama.

Norman is a punk, too. OBJ was just retaliating.

The way some of the media outlets were talking it sounds like Beckham deserved the gallows. He made a cheap shot no doubt which he deserves the 1 game for, but the Panthers deserve some penalty's also. The guy walked into the Giants team area with a bat talking trash. If the Pats did that it would be a national scandal with draft picks taken. Norman deserves a big fine for his role in the fiasco. The Panthers should pay a big fine for the guy walking in the Giants area with a bat talking trash. The refs deserve to miss a week for not kicking both Beckham and Norman out of the game.

What's the difference, other than in the minds of soft-witted people? A 2X4 is as dangerous as a bat.

23 years old & behaved like an ass - have to believe a few of us did stupid things at that age. I certainly did....fortunately for me it wasn't in front of 30 million people.

He deserves what he is receiving, but this story shouldn't be overblown.

I agree with most of your post. The bat swinging sounds bad, and probably is, in hindsight. But traditional things like that have been going on for 100 yrs. IMO, Beckham is an immature, diva. He is still being coddled. Coughlin basically said he is fine with Beckham's actions. At the surface, I think the Beckham camp is using it as a "defending myself" defense. This the Beckham I knew would emerge.. The guy's been slobbered over since he got here
