Guys, what should scare you most are the plays Blandino doesn't review. They are every bit as impactful to the outcome of game but there will be zero transparency if anyone cares to ask why a call wasn't made and wasn't reviewed by NY.

Glad I started implementing my exit strategy early. Have watched literally about 10% of the amount of football I usually do so far this year.

I let my convictions steer my life more than some (can point to tangible examples of this), but others will follow.

Unless viewers tune out (not happening in the near future) or someone else who roams the halls of power with impunity calls the NFL to the mat, it is what it is. And considering the wide swath of the media one will be crossing to seriously threaten the NFL gravy train (a former ref making a suggestion of impropriety means nothing), don't hold your breath waiting for another powerful entity making that happen. Outside of a judge shaking Goodell and Blandino's gilded cage, these guys are going to get away with an awful lot. Again it just is what it is -- if you don't like it find a way to tune out.

I don't believe there will be a 1:1 ref con job event waiting to happen. However, these scumbags will coax the outcome as, and IF, the optimal opportunities arise during the game. Absolutely nothing the Patriots can do about it other than try to get in position where their coaxing can't change the ultimate outcome. Winning by 1 under the guide of some BS ref-ing is ultimately just as good as winning by 21.

"NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said on Wednesday that he has asked a group of former players , former and current general managers and former officials to make recommendations to the league’s competition committee about making changes to the league’s catch rule according to Mark Maske of the Washington Post."

Yes, ol' Roger reached out to Charlie Casserly, Bill Polian and Jeff Fisher and Mike Kensil as well as NFL players such as Al Toon, Ken O'Brien, Chad Pennington, Ladainian Tomlinson, Ray Lewis, Dan Marino,Kurt Warner, Merrill Hoge, Mark Brunell and Shannon Sharpe. To insure fairness and maintain the appearance of impartiality, he made sure to include former Patriot Curtis Martin.

Well then...there you have it. We're all set!

I agree with your statement, in principal. however, we saw last year that the NFL can boost a ref's grade by simply changing them. they only need a few to control the game.

Sounds like a potential scheme to me, perhaps this is the accuser (Goodell) really blaming others for their own issues . first get the refs (no real outrage from fans/media). next gets the ability to help steer calls in the right direction. I think the NFL will soon be hiring ex-WWE writers to script games with perhaps some soap opera folks to add in the drama elements.

Perhaps the next phase is to have a camera focused on each player and the video streaming either in stadium or perhaps centralized in NY. That way they can really break down the calls and get them right. Heck for a Patriots vs Jets game, they could probably get fine upstanding people like Fireman Ed to help.

After all, experience doesn't really matter if you are making the calls through a video feed?

Of all the news that's been pouring out this week about the officials, revisiting the league alledged fluffing of Boger's grades so he could ref the SB is really curious.

One has to ask the question why? Affirmative Action? Desirable outcome for the league office? CBA w refs?

The tuck rule tho. It has always bothered me. Did the refs know about this rule or was it communicated to them? At the time, the league was hell bent on screwing with Big Al.
So don't be surprise if a clear fumble or play in our favor is called otherwise. All it takes is just one big moment to change momentum. At times people say you don't lose a game on one play. I will beg to differ with so many exhibits of single moments...

Walt Coleman is on record as saying that the call was straightforward once they were able to review it.

This is absolutely huge. There are very few who could say this that would have the same impact. This could potentially stop the league from intentionally screwing the Pats out of a playoff win.

It was a bogus rule, but called correctly at the time. And yes, it did lead to us winning the game. But, there were other plays in that game where the raiders could have put it away (isn't that what we "usually" have to say when officiating isn't quite right).

And, it has been pointed out many times that the Jets had the advantage of that play being called, in their favor, against the Pats early that same season.

Officiating has always been a contentious point with fans because it isn't perfect. The league is listening and it appears to be helping, but it's the people who are "guardians of the league" who's moral character is under question. Each event in and of itself is no big deal, but looking at the cumulative effect, it appears quite pronounced.

The advantage the NFL has is the issue is usually 1 team/fan base vs the other 31. the majority will never care because they either gain from it or suffer no adverse affect.

Of course the refs knew the Tuck rule.
They had called it several times that season including against the Pats in Game 2 vs the Jets.

Every time I hear "integrity of the game", I shake my head and laugh.

They are ruining a once great game. It sux to try and get through one with all the Ticky tack bs. No flow, no rhythm, they have already destroyed the game. I really just want 1 more FU SB!!!!
