Only to the practice squad, thankfully:

I wonder if they promote Trey Williams to the active roster now that he's been here for over 2 weeks

I am interested in that development.

Since when did Gary Kubiak and John Elway become astute talent evaluators?

well you obviously like the guy, not sure why another team didn't grab him then. Me, Im not the least bit impressed, seems like desperation.

I watched him during his 13/14 years, he is nothing to write home about. And Kubiak was his coach for preseason this year only and he probably made the right decision.

Im so excited...eh

2013
In his NFL debut, Ball had 8 carries for 24 yards in Denver's 49-27 win against the Baltimore Ravens. On October 27, 2013, Ball scored his first career touchdown on a 4-yard run against the Washington Redskins. On December 1, Ball had his best game of his rookie season, with 13 carries for 117 yards, including a 45-yard run, the longest of his career to date. He had another rushing touchdown against the Tennessee Titans that sealed the game for Denver.

2014
Ball started in only three regular season games in 2014 and suffered a groin injury in week 5. He was placed on injured reserve on December 13, 2014, finishing the season with 172 yards and one touchdown.

2015
Ball entered the 2015 season with the Broncos fighting for a roster spot with fellow running backs C. J. Anderson, Ronnie Hillman, and Juwan Thompson. After rushing for only 68 yards on 32 carries in the preseason, the Broncos waived Ball on September 6, 2015

Carter is really small but the rare player who can match Edelman in quickness. Edelman's Shuttle and Cone were 3.92 / 6.62, Carter's were 3.80 / 3.64.

NO, I AM NOT SAYING.

Just pointing out he has serious quicks.
Are the cone number accurate? Something seems off.

Ball was a legitimate talent in college. If he can recover some of that form, he'll give us a weapon going into the playoffs. Presumably, he'll need to avoid fumbles in order to keep his job, but he could be a solid addition.
No disrespect, but if he could have recovered that form, he'd be in the league already.

Having the guy sit out until week 13 pretty much says it all. A young second round pick who can't get signed despite all the injuries going around? The league scouts must be pretty unimpressed with him.

And those kind of quick guys seem to excell here.

I'm thinking season done.
Disagree. If that were the case, I would have expected Blount to IR and Ball to 53. Blount looked like a sprain on video which would likely put him back by the playoffs. That's just me of course. Chao not so optimistic:

Video inconclusive. Hoping for hip muscle injury, but worry for posterior hip subluxation/labrum. Crutches worrisome
He did not get hit that hard, or appear to be in great pain and also walked well going to locker room, which would be unlikely for subluxation. We should knwo more when transactions are released...

I hope you're right, Herron.

Doom and gloom on PatsFans about a RB that got signed to the Practice Squad, typical

Labrum would be an issue. I had my right hip Labrum torn, three anchors put in, easy surgery but you cant do **** on it for about 4-5 months, you dont even put weight on it for 2 months. Only way to know for sure is an MRI with a dye injection into the joint.

You've jumped to a conclusion. I've seen him play. He seems ok but I'm not doing cartwheels but I'm not thinking the Broncos' brain trust is this elite group of personnel gurus where their verdict on a player is to be held as gospel.

In the 15 years of being an observer of the Pats personnel department, one thing that I have learned is that when it comes to evaluating talent and skills that are a potential fit for their system, there are right a helluva lot more than they are wrong.

Clearly they think he has a chance to help them so they signed him. He could be another Rasheed Melvin or another Dion Lewis.

We shall see.

Blount is on crutches and Bolden is the team's #1 RB is now.

Panic may be an overstatement but it certainly isn't all sunshine and rainbows today in Foxboro..

We had no running game in 2/3 of the playoff games last year. I'm not worried about the offense/RB situation, especially with Edelman returning.
