v this guy gets it v

Butler and Ryan are playing lights out. NOBODY...would have ever imagined this. Johnson made a few nice plays tonight....and that swagger...LOVE IT!

Incredible value there. All 3 of them on cheap contracts.

uh..obviously the Patriots staff and Belechick did as far as Butler and Ryan go...Johnson? stroke of luck maybe?

If Johnson works out and then they get Brown back or Roberts picks up were he left off after his injury then CB is not a big need for me in the off season.

I would say at that point your biggest concern becomes back up LB on D.

Seriously, I am f***ing hyped by the way Ryan has been playing. I was advocating for him during this whole offseason, and he is playing amazingly. It even surpassed my expectations.

I think the best move the Patriots can make at THIS point is hire fnordcircle as assistant G.M. of League Dislikes. His job title would include disseminating false information, quasi-libelous "insider" rumors, credit ruination, airborne leafletting of propaganda and persistent false telemarketing calls on a minute to minute, hour by hour, daily basis aimed at every name associated with NFL Offices in NYC.

I was thinking on creating a thread, but this one will do nicely, I would like to hear everyone's opinion on one thing (About Butler).

I was not as enthusiastic as some here when it became clear that he would be our number one CB. After some growing pain, fortunately, I admit that he is, in fact, awesome. However, i have one problem with his play: He takes the ball out of the receivers hands instead of breaking the pass straight up.

Now, of course, it produces the same thing, an incomplete pass, but do you guys think this is something to be concerned about? If he goes up against some sure handed guys, like Fitzgerald, AJ and such, can he still be as good as he has been this whole year (Which is VERY good)?

I was wondering about this for some time, but he keeps knocking the ball out, so I never really opened up the discussion. But I would like to know what everyone thinks of that.

He actually knocked a couple passes away tonight.. And I believe that what you are seeing is the result of coaching. That the coaches want him to go for the ball if he's been beaten rather than make a stupid play and take a DPI penalty by trying to grab the arm of the receiver..

I don't know, I'm never a patriots need to draft a WR early draft guy, but we might just be able to take a WR with our 2nd round pick.

WHAT? Do you have any idea of the kind of HELL you've just opened up on this board? Use a 2nd round pick on a WR? You're gonna get slaughtered by the "Belechick Can't Draft Wide Receivers" collective. They LIVE to push this agenda.

Oh I know, But I'm usually against taking WR's Early. However, we might just be able too. This years classe is real stacked and should have some talent fall till the later rounds, 2nd. Also some top picks who will fall because of season ending injuries.
Ie. Clemsons Mike Williams.

What a treat that would be.

It cant be said enough how much Ryan has improved, he has been an upgrade over Brandon Browner (obviously based on last seasons play) and he was supossed to be a reserve CB.

Many people on this board called for Ryan to be one of the final Training Camp cuts, not too long ago.....

Let that sink in for a minute.

Not anyone attending camp this summer. In fact, as the weeks wore on it was very clear he was the choice opposite Malcolm Butler. From what I remember , the controversy centered around the slot corner plus whether Darryl Roberts or Jordan Richards would make the roster. The knee jerk Revis Jilted Lover Association doesn't really apply in any real sense to what goes on in Foxboro.

How many WRs are there or have there recently been named Mike Williams?

Another Mike Williams wide receiver? The ones before him sucked, so he must suck too.
