Gronk Practicing Thursday 12/10

Need him to defeat the JJ Watts this Sunday night. Play him with the brace. Decoy, 3rd downs whatever role he can play.

I think the only grass fields left are in Arizona, Pittsburgh, Chicago, San Diego, and San Fran.

You're suggesting the Patriots knowingly put him at unnecessary risk. Might as well blame Gordy too while you're at it.
I'm not excusing anyone. The kid clearly wasn't ready to return and yet was allowed to anyway. Therefore, your "investment" argument has already been shown to not hold water. The result was another break and Gronk missing half of the following season. If he wants to make sure the knee is fully ready to go, then all the power to him.

not sure i agree. he might be just testing his knee out today and if he decides he needs a couple more weeks so be it. also i wouldn't trust the patriots doctors if i were gronk.

The team doctors who cleared him in 2012 are not the same doctors who are the team doctors now. The team doctor who cleared him to play with his broken arm has a history of poor decisions for not only the Patriots, but the Red Sox and other teams. The current doctor doesn't have the same shady history.

I wonder if he was not read to return or that they just used the wrong plate to correct the problem in the first place. We are not sure if the issue of him re-breaking the arm was because the arm wasn't fully healed or that they used a short plate that helped to re-break the arm when the bone was torqued and the plate pressed against the bone.

it doesn't matter. if you were gronk, would you say "um ok, Dr. Gill isn't here anymore so I'll just listen to the new team doctor?" it's his career. even brady didn't let patriots team doctors operate on his acl.

Carolina, has grass. Miami, jax and Cleveland may have grass too

Can we just for a minute forget the ridiculous talk of meddlesome parents and just be incredibly thankful that we get to see the freak back on the field this year?

I mean, what a gift to watch this guy play the game at the highest level ever experienced.

Was it actually ever really investigated and reported back then if this was just an unfortunate accident or whether Dr. Gill ****ed this up ? I don't seem to remember clearly. I just vaguely recall something about him breaking the hand along the edge of the plate that was inserted.

Still think he sits this week. But he has to be back by next week.

If he is out of any game beyond the Texans, then we have to look at Team Gronk as being too meddlesome. If he is back by the Titans, I owe him and his dad an apology.

I don't understand how you formed your opinion on this his. Without any reference point, i.e. knowing the extent of the injury, how can you say with any any confidence he should or shouldn't be on the field at a given time?

there were rumors at the time that belichick put enormous pressure on dr gill to clear players if they looked ok in practice.

He clearly wasn't ready. He was favoring the arm in the game against Miami two weeks before that playoff game even took place.

Oh come on Kontra, the re-break doesn't confirm negligence of foresight. More likely it was a matter of calculated risk all parties agreed to after weighing the odds regarding further injury. No way you can say he "clearly wasn't ready to return" because of an unfortunate fluke. I am firmly convinced the Patriots fully recognize Gronk's value to the team and handle him accordingly. Hell, he didn't see a single snap in the preseason.

As I just mentioned, he was badly favoring and protecting that arm in the Week 17 game. The kid was not ready. The team saw this as well and still let him play. Whoops. There went half of Gronk's 2013 season.

Denver and green bay also I think.

I'd rather him heal 100% and be available for the playoffs than play injured, risking his injury with something worse. Put another way, if it means we lose one of the top two seeds because of it, so be it. When we get Gronk and squirrel back, I'm ok with going anywhere to lay down some 5hit. Not scared of anyone. Our full healthy offensive squad will hang with anyone. Too bad Lewis can't be brought back for the playoffs, but alas, White proved he can fill that roll to some extent pretty good.

I'd rather play in the wildcard round with a healthy squad than get a bye and/or HFA with half the offense on IR.

It looked to me like the grass in Denver was real too.

Belichick was following Gronk up and down the jogging line. He was pumped and jacked to have the tight end back on the field.

Here's visual evidence from @photowilcox of Belichick walking up to give Gronk a high-5

That's because Bill knows he's winning SB50 with Gronk back soon and Edelman's return on the horizon. I'd be pumped too, if I were Bill.
