Coleman is absent from practice which might have lead to the Greenwood signing.
Only if Coleman ends up on IR.
I doubt Coleman is getting cut.

I don't think Coleman needs to be cut or IR'd for his injury to lead to a depth signing.
Hard to believe we haven't signed a Running Back since Lewis went down.
Bill must not see any he likes out there.
Tall corner, drafted fifth round in 2012. Injured a bit. Torn abdominal rookie season; PUP. Spent practice squad time with Lions, Cowboys, Vikings, Ravens. Released/injured with Ravens this past September.
I suspect it has more to do with injuries elsewhere being higher priorities.
They cut Ventrone? So, Fauria, Greenwood, and Vereen were added to the PS.. Ventrone and McDonald were cut.. That leaves the Pats full. Wonder if they actually bring Barker back or if they cut one of the 3 OL on the PS to bring him back..
How many reps has our #6 LB gotten?
How about our #6 S?
How about our #7 S?
Belichick has judged that Martin, King and Wilson are more important than injury protection at running back or cornerback for that matter. Obviously, we are very thin at RB and CB. We have three healthy players at both positions.
For the past few weeks, NE has been dealing with an incredible amount of OL injuries, necessitating a call up against the Giants. As soon as the reinforcements arrived, they had to call up Harper to cover a gap at WR as well as do some CYA at CB. That fact that there are some seemingly extraneous safeties is useful context, but it doesn't have much to do with my point.
If one of them evolves into a CB3 or CB4 no one would complain a bit.Tall corner, drafted fifth round in 2012. Injured a bit. Torn abdominal rookie season; PUP. Spent practice squad time with Lions, Cowboys, Vikings, Ravens. Released/injured with Ravens this past September.
Definitely the type of player the Pats should add to the practice squad. I don't think anyone would argue if they carried nine PS corners.
YOUR POSITION
Not signing a 4th RB has to do with injuries at other positions.
MY POSITION
Not signing a 4th RB has to do with Belichick seeing more value in a 6th LB, and a couple of special teamers who are labelled as safeties than he sees in the 4th RB.
AND BY THE WAY
Belichick still hasn't signed the CYA corner that you mention.
They cut Ventrone?
Didn't see that one coming.
BOTTOM LINE
Belichick is a genius in making his bottom of the roster risks pay off. He seems to like to use these positions on special teams players, rather than on injury protection. Belichick prefers to wait until the injuries actually happen before he makes the roster moves. IMHO, we were lucky to find Fleming and Barker available when we needed them.
Clausell was one of three players from the opening day practice squad roster. Only Asante Cleveland and Darius Fleming remain.Pats to re-sign OLman Chris Barker to PS and drop Santa Clausell, who some hoped might be a possible
future Swing Tackle prospect. That mantle of low expectations now belongs to something called Keavon Milton.
I'm kind of suprised asante has hung spin nd this long. I thought for sure he'd b be gone with this signing of fauriaClausell was one of three players from the opening day practice squad roster. Only Asante Cleveland and Darius Fleming remain.

The Patriots worked out running back Kendall Hunter, according to a source.
4th round pick in 2010 only 5'6" 199 lbs and did not have big receiving numbers but solid runner before the requisite ACL in 2013 with 4.6 ypc for 3 years.Hunter, 27, rushed for 1,202 yards with a 4.6-yard average in his three seasons with the 49ers. He missed all of 2014 with a knee injury and was among the 49ers' final roster moves before the start of the regular season.
