I just looked at the reps, per Reiss.

OFFENSE
1) Danny is doing very well. I'm one of those who think that he'll be back for 2016.
2) Mason is everything Manx said he was. He is great in the running game, especially as a pulling guard. He is OK in pass protection.
3) Jackson may be inactive once Wendell and/or Stork are back.

DEFENSE
4) Mayo is behind Freeney in the depth chart. Freeney basically replaced Hightower, and had twice the reps that Mayo did. Bostic didn't play LB. However, he did play on lots and lots of special teams. Mayo won't be here next year. It's time to extend Freeney.
5) Coleman is our nickel back, but we weren't in sub formations much. When we were, we played a lot of 3 safety formations. Harmon is quite having a great year.

Is Mayo done or is he just slow coming back?

a bit of both

I think that he is done as patriot. The team has moved on with the acquisitions of Freeney and Bostic, both of whom are signed through the 2016 season.

The WR group will be real nice once Lafell takes over the WR2 snaps:

1. Edelman
2. Lafell
3. Amendola (slot)
4. Martin (situational deep threat)

Martin's come in and in 3 weeks took over Dobson's role nicely. One great deep catch and drew a PI yesterday.

I'm afraid you may be right, but I'm holding out hope that it could be that he hasn't completely come back from his injury. I forget who made this point, but it was a good one (maybe Rob?). Victor Cruz had the same injury and he hasn't even gotten back on the roster yet.

Mayo has been a GREAT Patriot, and vastly under rated by the mediots and some fans over the years, but you can't ignore the combination of a lack of production with his cap number for next year, and the fact Bostic and Freeney are both signed for next year. BUT, there are still 11 more games to play, and who knows how the season evolves. Just think about how most people thought about Danny Amendola 5 games into last season.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but we were in sub formations essentially all night. As you said though it was with 3 safeties, with McCourty essentially playing as a CB. I wouldn't say Coleman is the Nickel corner, really, it is McCourty, with Harmon and Chung Playing Safety.
