To be honest, it was the Model 1816 Springfield musket that first had inter-changeable parts. But I see where you're trying to go with this.......

For those manufacturing dorks out there, I absolutely believe BB is applying TPS/Lean Manufacturing & Taguchi Loss Function principals to how players are used.

Start small with the interoperability and measure quality and benefit.
