Hi guys and gals, I need a favor. We are trying to settle a little bet we have going on another board. I won't tell you which side of the bet I'm on, I just ask for a fair, impartial answer.........

You are a NFL GM, in search of a QB. Tony Romo from Dallas, and Jason Campbell from the Redskins are available. Who would you rather have Quarterbacking your team?

Campbell or Romo.

Thanks

Oh, and all our hearts and prayers are with you guys in hearing about the death of Hill.

Romo. More experience and even though his play seemed to decline towards the end of the season, he still led the team to the playoffs. Neither has a full season of starting under his belt so it's hard to say one is proven, but out of the two, Romo is more proven than Campbell.

Hope your bet is not with a guy named Aqua4ever

icomeinpeace,

Some will attempt to hijack threads for all they are here for is talking smack and other annoying things. To answer your question I'd say Jason Campbell. If you watched Romo down the stretch last year he struggled big time and it was all capped off by the infamous fumbled snap. Jason Campbell has had time to learn and grow in that offense and finally gets the ball. I think he'll take some licks early on this year, but once he really continues to get his feet wet, he'll be the better QB and have more longevity than Romo.

Well it depends on whether I want to win now or not. I think Campbell has a higher ceiling but Romo is better at this point.

So I want to ask you, which was the fluke? The solid play early on, or the struggles late in the year?

It's somewhere in the middle. The big numbers he put up when he first came in was the result of playing against bad teams and his opposition not having a lot of film on him. Later in the year he had some bad games but he also some very good ones as well. He played pretty well in the playoff game, the botched hold notwithstanding. He does have some consistency issues that he needs to work on, and experience will help that. Overall I think he was better than Jason Cambell was last year, but like I said, I wouldn't be suprised if Campbell surpasses him in the future.

I'm right there with you but with a thin line on both sides. He was inconsistant at best in the end of the season and you're also right about the begining of the year, not a lot of film on him. If he comes out and struggles early next year, I'm going to lable him an average QB at best.

As for Jason Campbell, I agree again. He showed us some things that make me want to believe he's going to be a good QB. But then again, why couldn't he beat out Brunell earlier in the year especially when Brunell was horrendous early in the year? I think 2007 is the telling year for both of these QBs and for the sake of building a team, I'd take Campbell.
