Was Pepers the defensive player of the year?
look at their stats last season..nothing says Taylor played much better.
JT: 60 tackles, 13.5 sacks, 2 INts
JP: 57 tackles 13 sacks, 0 INTs
plus Peppers played hurt a lot of the year and their defense wasnt as good all around as Miami's was.
last year..yes Taylor played better but overall i like Peppers. Taylor played some OLB so it was different than Julius mainly being at the end the whole game.
and not to start an arguement but i think Bailey should of won it. 85 tackles..10 INTs with teams avoiding him? I cant see another CB getting that kind of production. If Bailey didnt win it now..hes never going to
Players who are on the list, but should not be
Shaun Alexander: the man has a broken foot.
Kris Dielman: A solid guard, made to look much better by McNeil.
Tommie Harris: pass rushing DTs are a luxury, coming off injury
Steve Hutchinson: an overrated oaf
Mike Strahan: has grandma arms and walks in fashion shows wearing a sarong. No Thanks.
Jeremy Shockey: Is this a joke?
Andre Johnson: Has the numbers, but disappears against good competition
Kellen Winslow: recurring knee problems make durability a huge ?
Casey Hampton: close but no cigar
Dwight Freeney: Not even close
Shawn Andrews: Just because he pushes around weak NFC east D-lines doesn't make him great.
Terence Newman: for a cb to be great he has to make big plays, not just cover well
Players who are not on the list, but should be
Bob Sanders: X-factor in Colts SB run
Logan Mankins: Best Guard in NFL
Ty Warren: Humble Monster
Luis Castillo: devastating
Marcus McNeil: man among boys
Hines Ward: Troy Brown squared
Kerry Rhodes: better than Polamalu because he is a more consistent tackler
John Henderson: best DT in the NFL
Rashean Mathis: I guess PFW forgot Jacksonville has a franchise
Demarcus Ware: emerged in the 2nd half as a dominant force. IMO already a more complete player than Merriman.
Olin Kreutz: The rigid spine of the Chicago O-line
Trevor Pryce/Haloti Ngata: someone on the Baltimore D-line better make it.
Look at forced fumbles and passes defensed. it isn't even close. Taylor played DE as well as a man can play the position last year. He was much better than Peppers in '06. Remember that long stretch last season when Peppers just disappeared? Remember the game vs. Dallas where he just packed it in? I love Peppers, too, but last year, while awesome by normal standards, was a bit sub-par for Julius.
Fumbles, Peppers 3, Taylor 9
Defended: Peppers 6, Taylor 8
not a big difference in passes defended..considering JT played OLB sometimes.
11 PDs for Taylor, 9 forced fumbles, 6.5 stuffs, 2 INTs, 2 TDs.
For Julius, 6 PDs, 3 forced fumbles, 5.5 stuffs, 0 INTs.
The Panthers defense really underachieved last year.
-missing Morgan
-Injury plaqued Ken Lucas
-Injured Rucker
-Aging Minter
-Washed up Safety with injury problems in Williams
-overrated Gamble

nice job,pony......especially about Ware and Mathis.
Wilfork-not yet
Hines Ward-past his prime
Ty Warren-next year
How could he STILL have forgotten Zach Thomas. I can't believe the lack of respect he gets.
jeez,aqua.....get off of Zach Thomas, will ya
he's past his prime and is no longer a game changer.....just like Bruschi.
You're losing credibility with this.....
stick with Jason Taylor, his is a cause worth championing, not Thomas.....open your eyes.
I'm losing credibility over a guy who was the all-pro MLB (You do realize that means BEST LB IN FOOTBALL RIGHT?) and led the league in tackles. Thomas is lightyears ahead of Bruschi.
