Brady v. NFL Court Hearing Thread (8/31) - Live Update and Tweets

We had heard nothing of the Jets ball tampering case before the rebuttal. I am guessing it came from Feely himself to Tom.

I can't remember if it was "A Few Good Men" or another court drama, but I keep thinking of the scene when the lawyer trotted in two pilots who were never going to testify, but were threatening all the same.
I beat you to that observation by about 3 pages.

Yep, Few Good Men, somebody referenced it earlier...

I'm so confused.

I think I understand why Feely is there but I thought that new evidence and testimony wasn't allowed as both sides agreed?

I hate that Mara is there. I understand that Berman invited him but he is an owner and essentially on the NFL's side. It is not in his best interest to help negotiate a settlement for a number of reasons.

I was under that impression too. It just seems bizarre that the Jets kicking ball didn't destroy the entire case. No implication of player involvement, no investigation, 8K fine. Boom
I agree with you, bang on.

This judge brings up precedent time and again and I would not at all be surprised if the judge gave out an equipment fine ... makes absolute perfect sense to any logical human being...

If Feely is somehow involved today with anything positive for Brady, what that will do to Jets fans will be very nice...

So is thing already over? Now wait for judge's decision?

Berman: "We did not reach a settlement. The parties tried quite hard I think."

Sounds like it's over. Hopefully a ruling comes today.

Have to assume it's today....Berman has ruling ready I'm guessing.

GULP.

He can't do that. There are only two things the judge can do. Confirm the punishment or vacate it. He can't issue a fine or reduced suspension or anything like that.
