I feel bad for TJ..but as others have said, there is a LOT going on....I fear as was said..fear it could end badly. He needs treatment and badly..and I hope he gets it sticks with it and in time recovers. The concussions are a problem..more an NFL one than just with the Patriots.

Well not to start a war, but you asked for it.

Maybe Bellichick should've pullled Brady after receiveing a 21-0 BEATING from the Dolphins. Oh that's right, he did. Nothing better than forcing Brady to the bench because of ineffectiveness.

Hold on to that memory, son, because nothing remotely close will happen this year.

Heh....typical front running bigmouth phinatic...62-7, 37-3, 17-3 playoff losses mean anything to you, flipper flopper?

"we gonna run dat...er....pass dat....er....kick DAT ball!"...Jimmuh Manson's famous last words

Suffering from serious depression doesn't totally negate your personality.

Johnson is a guy who likes media attention, being interviewed, etc. He was a good quote when he played, then went into broadcasting immediately upon recovery.

That tendency doesn't go away when you have depression. It just interacts with it in odd-seeming ways.

Ugggh. Like everyone else, I feel for TJ and hope he gets the help he seems to so badly need. But the thought of Bryant Gumble finding every which way to slam BB and give fuel to the fire of every reporter who has an axe to grind against him, which I know before ever seeing this piece is exactly what is going to happen, makes me want to vomit.

My interest in this thread is beyond TJ. I have a sister who seems to suffer from some sort of depression. Ever since she pretty much quit her job almost 10 years ago, she has pretty much stayed at home, spending her time watching TV and stuff like that. She doesn't talk (though she was always rather quiet even as a kid) and I think she's very angry at the world.

While this is a football forum, this is one of those threads that transcends football. I wish I knew what I could do for her...

Find out from your Dr, people you trust or research on the net some kind of intervention or help group (MacLain Hospital Belmont MA) that you can join and learn more effectively how to help her. Meanwhile, keep in contact in as many ways as you can despite any rejection you may experience. The good news is depression, bipolar, etc. is quite treatable. The bad news is it's difficult to get the sufferer motivated to take the treatment, usually psychotherapy and some meds.

thanks. I'll have a look around the net to see what a good first step might be.

I usually lurk but I this is a personal subject with me. I have been suffering from depression for 10+ years and in the middle of this time I have had 3-4 concussions to go along with this. I would consider my depression as minimal when I was going through with college and life. I fought through it, I went to therapy and searched for a medication which worked. Then in 2006 I received 3 concussions in a row the third being the worst where I fell out of a hotel room bed and split my head open on a nightstand. After this third concussion, My symptoms of apathy got worse along with my grades in graduate school. I honestly lost my will and love of my chosen profession and am currently unemployed trying to get my confidence and frankly my love of my profession back. As an athletic trainer I have learned about the new "Possible" condition called footballer's dymentia and based on my own experiences I do believe TJ has some of the same problems as described in this new condition.

It's never easy at all...there are so many reasons for a depression....so it's hard to tell ..but understand there is help...from meds to therapy and there are many avenues to take..it's NOT easy at all..and takes time..no instant recovery..but she does need a LOT of support..and communication is necessary..vital...
