Anyone else wondering why Mike Reiss posted this on his Twitter account, but nothing is is on the ESPN Boston blog. I guess you can argue that he decided to make people aware of this before he finished writing his blog piece, but I wonder if ESPN isn't going to let him post it on an ESPN site since it references two black eyes for them (the Kelly Naqi report and Mort's report).

At this point it seems to me that PR pressure is the only thing that the NFL responds to - and even the most Patriot-hating owner has to know that the League is "a little bit pregnant" when it comes to the public record of how they've conducted themselves - along with the increasing number of articles questioning the fairness and integrity of the League itself. I figured why not at least post this in an area where Mara's people will see it- it's a pretty reasonable request if I do say so myself


An Open Letter to John Mara:

We, as NFL fans ,were told that Ted Wells would conduct a thorough investigation – not just into the allegation of football deflation by the Patriots – but into the very relevant issues of frequent false and damaging leaks that numerous reporters have confirmed came from multiple NFL League Office Sources

Despite this promise, such an investigation was never forthcoming as Ted Wells declined to address any issues related to the conduct of the League Office.

Additionally, the so-called “Independent” investigation, authored by a man who ESPN reports has received $45 million from the NFL over the past 2 years, was edited by the NFL League Office before it was released to the public, calling into question the independence and credibility of the report which found that Tom Brady may have been generally aware of something that may have taken place.

According to the Washington Post (which broke the Watergate scandal leading to the resignation of President Nixon,) the NFL is engaged in what it terms “a very unseemly pattern of unethical behavior by the league office under Goodell’s leadership” given an NFL disciplinary process which “lacks integrity and fairness.”

Given this serious charge, as a prominent owner who claims to support integrity and fairness in the NFL, we, the fans of the NFL call on you to demand a TRULY independent investigation into the conduct of the NFL League Offices, including former Jets President Mike Kensil.

If the NFL has nothing to hide, why not restore the integrity of the League by subjecting Roger Goodell and other members of the NFL League Offices to the same scrutiny they insist others comply with? This investigation should include Roger Goodell and Mike Kensil’s voluntarily providing their personal cell phones for the scrutiny of a truly independent investigator.

We await your response to this matter that is at the heart of the continuing popularity of the NFL.

Indeed I believe all fans of the NFL can agree that if the NFL League Offices lack integrity, then the NFL itself lacks integrity, and this presents a major crisis of leadership.

Please give this matter your immediate attention and public response.

I love how Pash was concerned that releasing the correct PSI would just bring unneeded media attention. Yes, because since the incorrect report by Kelly Naqi and now the media has basically ignored the Deflategate story.

Pash defines "unneeded media attention" as "any factual statements that works towards exonerating the Patriots".

Nope! We certainly don't need the truth getting out while the peasants are readying the pitchforks and torches!

Then he gets snippy when Glaser gets tired of his stonewalling.

I'm starting to view FIFA and the NCAA as less corrupt organizations. The FIFA guys were, afaik, just out for money. The NCAA goes to great lengths to protect their high profile programs. The NFL, they're doing shady stuff just because they want to.

Patrick Leahey is still Senior Chair of the Senate's Judiciary Committee. Arlen Specter used just being on that committee to threaten anti-trust hearings for the NFL whenever he felt his Eagles were getting railroaded (or he wanted to take care of Comcast). When is Leahey going to step up for his constituit? Sheldon Whitehouse (RI) and Richard Blumenthal (CT) are also on that committee.

One thing I don't get is how after all these emails and other info come to light how anyone would have thought the investigation was looking at the league at all. I know people say that the Patriots were the ones leaking those reports, but I don't know how they could have thought this was going to anything but the worst witch hunt since the McCarthy Hearings.

Robyn Glaser just lets Jeff Pash have it! It's great.

But then in the end Kraft just took it up the ying-yang. I will never understand that. They should have been in court the day after that exchange.

This just exposes the corruption in the NFL front office. These guys are CORRUPT. They are liars and thieves. They stole our draft picks, our money, and they are trying to steal money out of Brady's pocket...on top of that, they delivered a mountain of lies on top of the TEAM'S HEAD.
They are despicable. They really deserve to be sued.

If I was glaser, the email where he called him disingenuous would have been CCed (not BCCed) to Mort, Schefter, Reiss, and a half-dozen other mediots, WITH the entire thread history.

But thats just me.

Patriots should have sued right there and then.

They should have refused to cooperate with Wells.

The NFL would have brought out its bazookas against the team, but Brady would have been spared.

And the Patriots could then sue for the NFL bringing out its bazookas. AND LOST. But that doesn't matter.

Would have been better off to hammer the NFLJets right then and there.

Everything the NFL have done during this just points to a coordinated and malicious attempt to bring down both the Patriots and Tom Brady, that is in breach of the anti trust exemption....you need to get onto lobbying your local senators etc to look into getting it revoked.

They're dishonest and at odds with reality. More concerned were they with saving face than doing what was right from the outset. Under Goodell's watch all the NFL has been about are damage control, liability reduction and manipulating public perception through carefully crafted false media leaks. All of which are insulting to our intelligence.

None of this is surprising in the slightest though. The NFL is an organization that has no integrity, as such they cannot be expected to have people with any.
