So I got to what's obstensibly the Pats blog this morning. The first story is an Insider story(and what idiots PAY ESPN for their crap) about the Stanley Cup, followed by three or four Pats stories from a week to 10 days ago. Nothing current, nothing about the draft.

Who the hell is driving that ship?

And now they've kind of fixed it. Although there are only two stories there, at least they're current ones.

And now it's broken again. Top story is tennis, followed by old JETS ARTICLES.

It's FESPN. From my perspective, it's Karma paying them a little visit.

And I agree with the above, the old format was fine. This is another example of somebody fixing something that wasn't broken. You know, a special gift from the Good Idea Faerie.

I pay ESPN Insider for their crap.

I paid $3 for a promotion 2 years ago.

24 monthly magazines and free Insider.

I haven't been to ESPN.com since the day I saw the new format/style/approach. I won't be going until that format/style/approach is changed. They took what was a solid idea (strictly team related subsections) and pissed all over it with a mechanically unsound replacement.

The CBS site is good enough, and I'm not going to die over the lack of ESPN opinion pieces.

I think it was done to make it mobile compatible. Now it just works terribly on every device.

You're getting screwed, blewed and tattooed...

To each their own but I don't pay any site for news whether it be sports related or otherwise. And I can't imagine paying ESPN any money after how they acted during the stupid deflategate story.

Reiss. Feel bad. But he is putting food on the table, I guess.

I can spare 2 pennies a day for what they offer.

It crashes my iPhone all the time. Which the old format did not do.

Why does Windows seem to **** up every other OS? 7 and XP were money.

Microsoft was the 800 LB toll taker at the only bridge available for travel. This position allowed them to put out stuff like ME and other crap and still make absurd bank. Along comes Apple and Google to pull the unlimited cash cow out from under Microsoft. Consumer computing is widely being done on mobile devices (phones and tablets) not running a Microsoft OS. While Microsoft isn't going out of business, to be sure of that!, their rock solid supremacy has been walloped. For a company like Microsoft and the arrogance that comes with being that massive toll taker at the lone bridge, it has been a hit to their thought process/way of life. They are now in the process of a major rethinking of direction and culture of the company. You'll have to expect some missteps as they try and retool the company to either be a player in the massive consumer computing market or as they break into other businesses. But I suspect new versions of Windows will never see the likes of ME or 8.

For consumers this is the best thing that could happen. Microsoft's choke hold on computing was stifling consumer choice and innovation (previously if MS didn't like you or what your product had to offer despite how good it could be for the market, you all but weren't going anywhere near the market). That choke hold has ebbed significantly. Just need to make sure Google and Apple don;t gain a foot hold on that choke point. Nothing good comes of a giant corporation that has the power to say "yes or no" on most new computing products and technologies.

Oh, has the draft started yet?

Windows 8's "innovations" aren't great, but you get used to the new start menu tiles. The only thing that's still really annoying after 8.1 is accessing the control panel (for instance, in 8.1 they brought back the old onscreen calculator since before it was an app that went full screen, which made it completely useless).

Even still, it can't really be compared to ME or Vista as an utter failure. For one, I think it runs smoother than 7, though that might just be my hardware.

Windows 8 suffers from the idiotic decision that were going to try and shoehorn both PC and tablet/phone OSes into one interface. Terrible idea, really badly executed. I suppose there must be some people somewhere who really think having to touch your monitor screen all the time is a good idea, I'm just not sure who they are. Maybe for some very specialized applications. Me, I'm too busy cleaning the screen very five minutes.

(Oh, the other really bad idea was that you didn't need an exit button for an application anymore, because OF COURSE I want to drag the whole window off the screen with my mouse!)
