Some in league circles think that, whenever it ends, the Patriots will be cleared of any wrongdoing, given the absence of clear evidence of intentional, deliberate tampering with the air pressure in footballs used during the AFC title game.

But that doesn’t mean no one will be getting in trouble.

As one league source recently explained it to PFT, the league’s investigation has expanded to explore its own behavior, including for example the identity of person(s) who leaked to the media information that suggested the Patriots did something wrong.​

If I'm Bob Kraft, I'm freaking out about the media leaks prior to conclusion of the report---no doubt about that one. That alone should coincide with what Florio's article states, and was likely discussed amongst owners last month during the meetings. No matter who does what in the future, they've got to seal up those leaks. The fact that the Patriots were already found guilty in the court of public opinion is wrong on so many levels.

How much that has to do with SoV's credibility and inside sources is up to personal opinion and the way that we all see the same thing from different angles. There are plenty of scenarios where the Pats could be fined or punished, while the league still addresses the leaks and/or the alternate official who attempted to sell game balls on the side. Obviously, we hope none of those scenarios see the light of day and this is all done with as soon as possible.
