I actually think the trick plays enhance the rest of our offense.
This offense finished 4th in the NFL in points this season. We don't need to rely on the trick plays or gadget plays to score enough points to win. But just because we've shown it once doesn't negate our ability to use the exact same play. In fact, we could even use that knowledge to our advantage to develop a counter play (say fake the bubble screen with Edelman running behind the LOS), but let Brady pump fake and go elsewhere or have Vereen take a handoff and go in the other direction. Obviously I'm not an OC, but if a team is only watching Jules as their key to that play, you can use it to your advantage.
And now that teams have seen Edelman throw a pass, will they be less aggressive when attacking him on a bubble screen or jet sweep? Will it give him more room if we use him in a reverse? Whether we use it again or not, or a similar play is in the book somewhere, it will affect how defenses play us.
The Steelers had lots of gadget plays they used to run with Randal-El and even when they didn't, they occupied the opposition's time to prepare for them. No doubt the Colts and Broncos will spend a few hours preparing for the 4-OL package. Even if we don't use it at all, it's impacted their preparations.
You don't need to come up with something new every single time to win the game. Preparation and execution matter more, and at the very least, we've given opponents a lot more to prepare for.
