It is a very small sample for Mayo, but it shows what I was expecting it to be...never understood why he is considered a great LB in coverage. Ever since Cruz's TD in Super Bowl 46, where Mayo just 'jumped' in front of Cruz without even looking at the ball, I've been hoping he would be replaced in passing downs.
His career stats in coverage were never great, and to my untrained eyes, I couldn't see why Spikes was such a liability (2 INTs, 16 pass defended in his career) while Mayo was supposed to be great (3 INTs, 18 pass defended). To me, it was more of the same, and I liked Spikes ability to rush in the middle.
