Is this the week Chandler Jones is active?

Who is anywhere near 100% at this point of time anymore anyway ? He will be back in the fold once the team thinks that he can be effectively used.

I thought this argument may be used. I think there are plenty of guys "near" 100 percent. There are plenty of guys that are close enough to 100 percent clearly because we have alot of guys playing at a high level. If we had a bunch of guys playing at 50 60 percent I think it would show. Just like I think if chandler jones is at 50 60 percent, it will show.

If BB thinks that Jones can't play at a high enough level, he won't play. If he does play, it's because BB thinks that he can meaningfully contribute, relative to the other available options.

"We do what we think is best for the team."

Things are starting to get tight. This week's game is for home field and (if the Pats lose) next week for the
division. No better time to play Chandler Jones and pressure Rivers more than Aaron Rogers.

I suspect they hold him off for the division games.

No better time to play Chandler Jones

Even if he's not ready yet? Wasn't it just two weeks ago that NE came off a three game run 22+ point wins over division winners without Chandler? Now he's needed to take down a good-but-not-great SD team?

Anything can happen, of course, but I get the feeling I'm a lot more confident about NE's chances than most others on this board. I'm seeing something along the lines of a 34-20 win.

Thru the last several years, the Patriots have been world beaters at home but nowhere near as good on the
road. I expect the lowly Jets to give them a battle in a few weeks.

Based on the past couple of years, I could see the Pats rushing Jones back... for the playoffs, if it came to that. I really doubt they'd put him out on the field with increased risk to aggravate his hip for a week 14 game when they're currently the #1 seed against a team that they should beat anyway. The risk (losing Jones for the playoffs if he reaggravates) significantly outweighs the reward. So, if he does play on Sunday night, I'll be confident that the team thinks he's ready, at least to the point that playing doesn't put him at an elevated risk for reinjury.

That's true of most teams in the league. Every 9-3 team is 6-0 at home and 3-3 on the road this year.

Exceptions are rare and weird, like the Cowboys this year (who probably have no real HFA because their fans keep selling all of their tickets to away fans).

Which has absolutely zero predictive ability for this upcoming game. Didn't they just stomp Indy in Indy a few weeks back? Why should I think a loss in Pitt from 2011 means anything for this game? Hell, I don't think the Miami or KC losses this year mean anything, let alone something from 2013 or earlier.

Cowboys are just a weird team overall

He's supposedly talking to the media today. That's generally taken as a positive sign.

Just notice that too. I think their is a pretty good shot he plays Sunday if he is talking to the media today. We will see I guess.

i guess it was a quick stint with the media? Can't find how long he was available ect

I don't know what you guys are talking about. SMY and others have told me that Jones was done until January....if then. How could he possibly be ready before that time?

Oh wait a minute, could it be that a local mediot with a history of rarely being right could have POSSIBLY misspoke? I don't think so. otherwise we surely would have seen or read somewhere where she retracted her previous report. I mean she would NEVER report some mindless speculation and then when it turns out to erroneous pretend she never said it. Never happen right. .

Best laugh I had today was my 3 minutes of F and M listening when I got to hear Mazz questioning the integrity of the Pats and Red Sox FO's in keeping the media informed about their contract negotiations with players I mean we all know that all contract negotiations should be conducted in the media, right?

THAT's where BB has it wrong. Clearly BB isn't doing nearly enough in making sure Mazz and his ilk is getting what HE needs.

Watch out boys, the sarcasm is dripping heavily off me today.

BTW- as to Jones, its hard to see them taking him on this trip if they didn't think there was a decent possibility of him playing at least one of these games

If he is ready why wouldn't he play?

Why are the same people who are hoping Edelman, LaFell, Hightower, Easley, etc play are wishing to sit Jones if he's good to go? I don't know if any of the before mentioned are in any better shape to play than Jones if he is adequately healed.

Still think they wait until Miami to bring him back out

I think Hightower being dinged may have moved his schedule up a touch. I'd take a shot in the dark figuring he was traveling to practice, and a parachute in case someone got injured in Green bay.

If they feel Hightower should see limited action, he could pose a solution, allowing ayers/nink to kick back to high's position if they feel Casillas can't get it done.

That said, I vaguely remember seeing casillas make a couple plays through the whiskey fog. He may have also blown a few, further aiding the deterioration of my cognitive abilities (which are limited enough as it is).

I wouldn't be shocked either way. If he dresses, I'll take that as a sign Hightower may be more injured than hurt. He did come back in, so hopefully he is healed up next week.

While I agree there's a chance, I'm not sure bringing him on the trip really indicates anything. It's just as likely that, given he's okay to practice, they didn't want him sitting at home for two weeks straight working out on his own. Especially with the way the players are talking about this mini road trip, how it's a bonding experience and good for team building. I'm sure Jones wants to be a part of that, and the Patriots want him a part of that.

We will find out around 7:00 PM Sunday evening when the inactives are announced.
