Remember, Adalius Thomas though he had a fantastic year playing alongside the unhuman skills of Ray Lewis has yet to play a down in a pats uniform yet fans didn't overly questioned the enormous deal the pats gave him. With all that being said, I have alot of faith in the best front office in the league and hope that after spending a bundle on a slot reciever like Wes Welker, they will shell out the dough to Samuel who is only getting better each year.
GO PATS!
Thomas had 86 tackles, 9 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, and 2 INTs (one brought back for a TD) in 2005. Ray Lewis played 6 games in 2005. Thomas proved that it wasn't just lining up next to Ray Lewis that made him good.
Over the last three season, Thomas had 241 tackles, 28 sacks, 8 forced fumbles, and 4 INTs. Those are impressive numbers for an OLB. Other than the forced fumbles (he had two years with four and one year with none), his stats remained fairly consistent over those three years with or without Ray Lewis lining up next to him.
By contrast, over the last three years Samuel has had 14 INTs, 52 Pass defenses, amd 158 tackles. Without taking into effect that 10 of his INTs and 24 of his pass defenses came last season, those are just respectable numbers for a CB. Nothing special but respectable. You take out last year's stats and Samuel has mediocre stats.
That is why no one complained about Thomas' contract. He has proven it more than one year. Besides he took below market value. Samuel wants Clements type money.
