Pat Kirwin and Jim Miller broadcast live from Pats training camp on Monday July 28th from 3 - 7 pm. It will be rebroadcast, but I haven't seen a time. Probably at midnight.

These are Sirius' best two hosts, IMO. Both have relationships with Belichick. Miller played here (backup QB on the 2004 SuperBowl team) and Kirwin is one of the knowledgeable football guys Belichick obviously respects.

Should be great stuff. These guys put the local beat reporters/radio personalities to shame.

Let me second this. These guys will be great listening.

The downside is that, if you listen to these two on a regular basis, you will be unable to listen to local pundits. Boston talk radio will be impossible. Even things like PFW in Progress will be infuriating. For example, I heard Paul Perillo admit a couple of weeks ago that he had no idea what the difference between the X and Z receivers. So, why would I be interested in his evaluation of the Pats when he apparently has no more expertise than I do?

That's why we get so stuck on superficial analysis -- as if a shut down corner, a pass rush specialist, and a deep threat wide receiver were the only positions on a team, because those are the three that get their names called on TV broadcasts.

Kirwan worked for the Jets when BB was there.

They ask intelligent questions so BB gives them a lot of information as opposed when medidiots ask stupid questions.

I will be at work and don't have Sirius anyway, hopefully someone reports on this interview that would be worth a thread.

I cringe listening to questions at Belichick's press conferences. Some funny listening is when Rich Eisen plays a full Belichick press conference and dissects the idiocy of the questions on his podcast.

What will be really interesting will be listening to Kirwin's comments on the Pats AFTER he spends a full day in training camp. He'll get a lot of off-the-record stuff that will color his analysis going forward.

A perfect example, last year around this time, he was the ONLY media member who was talking about how Belichick was going to find a way to get an important contribution from LaGarette Blount. Everyone around here was just dismissing it as a ho-hum signing, wondering if he'd even make the roster. Much like Brandon LaFell has been totally dismissed by the local punditry.

I have Monday off and I do have XM...but not sure how to stream it. I guess just on their website?

Too bad they won't see a practice. THe PAts are off but the interviews will still be good listening.

Nice. I love listening to Kirwin on my ride home altogether but it's double great if they're broadcasting from Pats camp. Will be a must listen.

And guess who? The Jets camp on Tuesday 3-7PM!

Don't have Sirius, would be sweet if someone could drop some of the more interesting tidbits in a thread for us peasants...

Kirwin and Miller were here for Sunday's padded practice. Kirwin started the show with some ball-washing, talking about the night and day difference of where this team looks this year early in camp compared to last year.

First up: Interview with Bob Kraft. Nothing really newsworthy. You guys have all heard enough Kraft interviews. Kirwin did say he put Kraft at #3 on his list of top ten most influential people in the NFL artlcle for CBS Sports...

These are paraphrases

Kirwin: They appear from watching the half line scrimmaging drills that they are going to be a very good running team again.

Kirwin: James White is going to push some veteran off this roster.

Kirwin: Building a team that can handle an elite team. Started the minute the Denver game ended.

KIrwin: Wide receiver is the one piece....

Miller: To me James White is Kevin Faulk.

Kirwin: If you are a fantasy football player, put James White on your list and study him all summer....

Kirwin: James White and Vereen are jokers -- players that force you to guess wrong on defense. Play pass, they'll run. Play run, they will pass.

Kirwin: I think we'll see the return of the no-huddle.

Very nice. Kirwin typically offers up a very cogent analysis. Looking forward to tuning in on the drive home.

I like Perillo a lot, but that's really frustrating. I wonder how seriously these guys take their jobs, at times. If you cover football, there's no excuse for you not to get to know football inside and out, to a level that the average fan cannot. But how many guys actually go and do it?

Kudos to Greg Bedard for being one of the few guys off the top of my head that took his position seriously.

Kirwin: They've got depth at the d line. 2 deep inside with players who have played in this league. They've got plenty of players who can line up and play defense which is something they didn't have last year.

Kirwin: Not sure they have the depth at linebackers. If they get stuck, Belichick would just go big nickle or something to just put 2 LBs on the field.

Kirwin: Chandler Jones is Willie McGinnest. Hybrid player.

Miller: DBs at practice against the QBs -- highly contested. Talked about the number of interceptions in practice.

Kirwin: Chandler Jones, I watched him a lot yesterday.... that kid is on the verge of a 15 sack season. There was a very good tackle who got completely fooled by Jones. He's on the verge of being a steady Honolulu guy..

Miller: Marcus Cannon looks leaned down. Physically good.

Kirwin: I don't think the inside three of the o line is locked down yet and we don't know how good they are going to be yet.

Kirwin: Passing game looks so much better than last year.

Kirwin: Not a great road team last year.

MIller: Followed up the road team comment by asking what Kirwin thinks of Bellichick going on the road to scrimmage other teams.... Hmmmmm.

Kirwin: They are ahead of where they were last year. They just are...

Miller: Asked how Mallet would do if Brady went down, said he's ready. Ahead of where Matt Cassell was when he had to step in.

Kirwing: I hate to overrate this guy, but he looks fantastic in practice.....

Note: These are all rapid fire paraphrases, not exact quotes. I'm trying to keep up with the commentary.

Kirwin: Suprised at how many reps the 2nd and 3rd string guys are getting. Thinks the 1st teamers will get a lot of reps in the scrimmages against Redskins and Eagles

Brady interview coming up.
