He went undrafted because he was coming off an freaking heart attack, not because he lacked talent.

i'm pretty sure dj hayden almost died on the field, and he still went in the first round.

3) When Belichick signed Armstead, he took a shot as he does with so many signings. It just didn't work out. Belichick thought that Armstead had great upside; that is the optimism associated with lots of signings.

That's pretty much the way I see it. BB took a shot at someone whose signing was the equivalent of a first round pick, but came with lots of strings attached (naturally). If there were no strings attached, don't think we would have had a shot.

I agree. I couldn't get as engaged and worked up about this game if I didn't think that people realize that, in the end, it's a game -- a brutal game, played by amazing athletes of enormous dedication.

I'm also proud that BB sets the tone for the franchise. One of the few bright spots of a terrible summer last year was to see the way in which he led the club in its reaction. He's someone who has, if I could use the word, a compass and his warm tribute to AA is another sign of that.
