agreed. danny does a good job. but the perkins green trade didn't work out well. no gm is perfect. ill be happy if they can get somebody to take green and his god awful contract.

Sure it is. It's both of their faults. ESPN should tell him to tone it down and Simmons should know that he's speaking on a more broad public forum when he's on-air. Aikman is probably the biggest Dallas Cowboys homer to be a broadcaster, but he somehow manages to keep it objective. So does Rodney on NBC most of the time. I'm fine with some homerism here and there. But his is blatent. If he simply can't control himself, which is what you're trying to state here, then he should be removed from network television. And my god was he awful in pretty much every other aspect of the draft. In what world does it make sense to not study the people you're going to be talking about on live telvision in front of thousands of people?
Television doesn't want middle of the road, they want extremes. The extremes create conversation and cultivate agreement or hate. I suspect that's where the ratings and interest come from.

I do not think it means Rondo is out I think it means Avery Bradley will not be resigned. Avery Bradley was 6’2” Smart is nearly 6’4” so he is a better fit to play shooting guard than who we had.

Smart and Bradley would be a lethal defensive tandem in the back court and that is Brad Stevens basketball.

If Danny makes any trades I hope it is for a young talented player that needs a fresh start.
I do not want to see any lazy veteran bozo's like Wallace ....

There are plenty of other pre, post, and in-game programs across every sport in the world where middle of the road does just fine. Simmons is a twat. He shouldn't be on-air for his inability to stay objective alone, let alone the very obvious minute amount of work that he puts into his craft. Let him go back to the rags so he can pull this crap in print and not waste so much of the viewing audience's time.

Which of them attracts the rigorous comment that ESPN manages to accumulate on a daily basis? For the record, I'd far prefer to hear intelligent people offer reasoned opinion. The unfortunate reality is these networks pander to the masses.

The masses have proven time and again that they're brainless mongoloids. Your defense here is exactly the reason why ESPN is such a ****ty sports network (on top of them pushing various social agendas down our throats). The only reason why they're still the "worldwide leader" is twofold:

1. They've been there the longest.

2. Fox Sports hasn't caught up to them yet.

When or if the second one happens, we'll see ESPN become even more controversial for a while before they hit the reset button and go back to what they used to be.

I haven't disagreed with anything you've put forward Kontra.

My thoughts.

- Smart - I'm not his biggest fan, he can play defense and is physically ready, but he's not a great shooter and wants to be a scorer. I don't know if he makes players around him better. Rondo can't shoot either, but he's an elite defender, who attacks and is a strong passer. I feel like we just downgraded a bit. I wanted Randle, i think he can be a 20/10 guy in the Zack Randolph mode.

The difference between Smart and Rondo shotwise is that Smart's shot isn't broken the way Rondo's is. Rondo will NEVER be a good shooter. I have a fair degree of confidence that Smart can be, while not a great shooter, a good one. One of the signs of this is the ~75% FT shooting.

Plus, he's got a LeBron body, only guard sized. What's not to like about that?

From a Celtics standpoint, they got two great players. You guys should really be excited about Smart. I have a feeling that kid is going to be very good in this league. As a downside, the Lakers got Julius Randle. That's a solid move, for them.

Eh. Not sold at all on Randle. Basically, he's another undersized PF who can't/won't play defense and only scores from one side. He excelled in college by bullying other players, but I don't think that will fly in the NBA.

What's not to like is that he's not good enough to be either a 1 or a 2.

Danny should've drafted Noah Vonleh & Gary Harris, and if he didn't throw away what became 34 & 47
to Dallas just to move up 3 spots for Olynyk, then he could've drafted SF Cleanthony Early, G Jordan Clarkson or F/C Nikola Jokic at 34 and PGs Vasilije Micic (Jokic's teammate) or Semaj Christon, F/Cs
Patric Young or Artem Klimenko, or G/Fs Jordan McRae or Roy Devyn Marble at 47.

So @captain stone , you don't like the Smart pick yet are pissed at DA for not getting a bunch of spuds in the 2nd round?

Marcus Smart is good enough to be a 1 AND 2.

Just because you didn't like the picks doesn't mean they are bad.

Vonleh is still very raw as a player and might be a D-league candidate early on.

Harris will never be any better than Avery Bradley and we resigned him so what are you saying.

Young fills a need at the 3 and was the BPA at the time.

Besides trashing the picks, please give me specific reason as to why you don't like them

Smart can't shoot and Young can't get on the court; otherwise, they're terrific..

That makes perfect sense. A guy who's got a strained neck from a car accident (something that isn't remotely expected to keep him out of training camp) can't get on the court.
