Germany have two centrebacks playing at fullback, if the US can get some quick interchanges in midfield then they might be able to pick Boateng and Howedes off. Penetration is the key though.

0-0 at half time. Decent half, Germany started on fire but the US have clawed themselves back into it after initially letting the Germans dictate play. As I said previously, there's a chance to get in out wide for the US. More importantly, as it stands the US are through due to Portugal who are currently winning 1-0 against Ghana.

Things have broken well for the US today, they have done a good job overall against Germany and the defense and Howard are holding up well, and fortunately the Portugal/Ghana game has turned into the battle of the teams that want to go home. Ghana's no pay no play situation is definitely helping and Ronaldo is going to be shattered if Portugal wins and he has to cancel the pedicure he had scheduled in Lisbon on Saturday.

Not just as it stands but Ghana now needs us to lose by one and outscore Portugal 3-0, while Portugal needs the U.S. loss and 4 more goals.

Barring a catastrophe, this is over.

I agree,, great player good guy, Friedel is in the discussion of greatest american players although imo it is Dempsey. If there is one thing the US has been able to produce it has been great goalies, although I am really not sure who will follow Howard when he hangs them up, hopefully they will be seasoned in the EPL or another big time league, as Keller, Friedel, and Howard have been. EPL or Serie A would be my preference.

Frigging Micheal Bradley has not shown up in this World Cup, a major disappointment.
