Swanson was ranked 148th overall by ESPN in 2013, so this is a good signing. If he shows a willingness to get his nose dirty and not just be content with merely covering people, then he might have a chance to stick, especially during Browner's suspension. His ball skills & athleticism remind me of ***ante Samuel coming out of Central Florida in 2003.

As for Tuipulotu, he wasn't ranked by ESPN, at all…but was Walter Football's 19th overall DT. His workout numbers are good…but he didn't play until his senior season. Strange. But he's already better than Joey Vellano, so there's that.

Count me among the disappointed, however, that Jeremy Deering was released before he had a real chance to show what he could do.

He did show them what he could do, and they are apparently not impressed with it. If you are waiting for them to have every player show you what they can and cannot do you are going to be even more disappointed than you always are as that isn't going to happen.

Swanson appears to be more of free safety than strong safety. 5-10.0, 186. 14 interceptions over his career. Pats are a little deeper there: McCourty, Ryan, Jemea Thomas

Chung is their biggest safety at 212 - still missing the backfield intimidator we wanted to add this offseason.

I'm pretty sure that Swanson is viewed as a CB, not as a FS. I do agree with you about our lack of a physical presence at Safety, however.
