The 2014 Mock draft Thread.

Crichton would make a very good base end, especially on the strongide. He's not flashy and isn't the most explosive guy, but he's very physical with a great motor, and great hand usage, as you note. But he has very little agility and fluidity, which limits him. I wouldn't go there at 29, but if he slips ...

I'm not sure I would go 29 either but he totally reminds me of a Vrabel\Nink type only with a little bit of different dimensions (shorter, stalkier). I think he would give a lot of flexibility being able to one or two cap and being able to move inside on passing downs.

Teddy Bridgewater drops in Daniel Jeremiah's latest mock draft - NFL.com

Ok, I'll play along. I present the, "How the heck would Patsfans react to this draft?" mock draft:

Patriots Trade Mallett to Texans for pick 65.
Patriots Trade pick 29 and 4th rounder to Chargers for pick 25.

25. Teddy Bridgewater QB
61. Austin Seferian-Jenkins TE
65. Dominique Easley DT
91. Travis Swanson C

I'm still a Teddy Bridgewater lover. Watched him two years ago come off the bench at halftime when he was too injured to start and came from behind for the win. He lost two games (one to Bortles) when he brought his team back for the win with two minutes to go but the Louisville defense couldn't hold and they lost. I still think he is great at short and intermediate levels, reads defenses well for a college QB, can run if he has to but tries to throw the ball first. He has been my odds on favorite for Brady successor for 2 years. One can dream.

I watched him vs Stanford last night on Draft Breakdown and wow what a game he had. With nearly the same measurables as Ealy he's a much better football player and uses his hands so much better. Funny but I happened to look at Pat Kirwan's lastest mock a few minutes ago and he had the Pats taking Crichton in the first round at 29. Then I come here and see your mock for the triple helping of Crichton in the past 18 hours.

I'd rather take a chance with Kony Ealy ahead of Crichton, if both were still available at 29.

I like Derek Havens' 7 round mock. Add in a prospective Mallett trade with Houston to nab Stephon Tuitt, and I'd be very happy with that draft.

<cough> Terrence Fede <cough>

I really like the idea of Fede as a developmental base end. Sign someone like Will Smith on the cheap to use in a rotation while Fede develops, and to serve as a role model.

He's probable my favorite pure DE in this draft. Good call, Manx.

Certain posters would hate such an Offense heavy draft if it happened :

Not me. Love the first six picks.

Had a quick change of Moncrief + the Seahawks trade for Tuitt having gone back and looked at the CBS rankings again

Either way, Tuitt or Moncrief would be nice.

<cough> Terrence Fede <cough>

The limited tape I could find online of him is pretty spectacular. Hard to say given it was against the Pioneer league what that means. I would certainly gamble on him later on day 3.

Fede has great tape, albeit in limited quantities against poor competition; he has great size; he has excellent measurables. From limited reports he has a good motor and work ethic, and no obvious character concerns. He checks off enough boxes for me to warrant a 6th or 7th round selection.

Just watched him again. His play is so similar to Chandler Jones, it stands out every time I watch him. He even utilises the stutter step.

Just remember two things on his level of play. Firstly, he shone at that level as the leading pass rusher (sacks/game) in FCS. Second, he has NFL size and athleticism. His numbers are almost identical to Chandler Jones.

He has become my "not much tape" binky for this year. Two years ago it was Akiem Hicks and last year it was Armonty Bryant and both of those ended up getting drafted so hopefully Fede is the guy this year. Lawrence Virgil and Joe Clancy are on that list too for this year.

I agree, he looks uncannily like Jones at times.

Duly noted.

The mo' pass rushers the mo' better...for a late round pick why not take a flyer on someone with Jones like measurables?

We must be getting pretty close to running out of late round binkies.

How many more interesting diamonds in the rough can be left we haven't talked about yet? : P

There's over a month yet. We'll find some more.

We'll probably discuss 400-500 players before we're done. And then BB will take someone we haven't even considered in the 2nd round.
