Next Stop, the Underwear Olympics

Two of my favorite O-line prospects in this draft. I have said it before and will say it again, if they can get Marcus Martin in the middle rounds I'll be doing back flips. Big, athletic, young as a true junior entry, versatile, and a good player.

I think Marcus Martin will be a day 2 pick without a doubt. I'd love him at 93, but it might take 62, or more. We'll see how his stock locks in 2 days.

Measurements are important. Gronk wouldn't be the player he is without those 10 3/4" hands. I was hoping for Gronk hands from ASJ.

While I prefer ASJ, I agree on him v Niklas. Will be fine with either.

Measurements have their place but it’s easy to put too much emphasis on them.

Having big paws is nice for a receiver/TE but catching the ball has fare more to do with processing ability, as Grid might put it. Interpreting the spacial geometry with respect to where the ball is going and putting themselves in the best position to get it. I don’t know if there’s a way at this point to measure that kinda stuff, watching film might very well be the best way right now.

I’m not worried about ASJ’s physical abilities, I heard character was a big concern with him though I haven’t researched him much.

I don't put too much emphasis on it. Of course it's all part of a bigger picture but it's still a part nevertheless. A mouth is just a mouth unless it's Mona Lisa's smile. That picture wouldn't be the icon it is without it. Just like Gronk wouldn't be Gronk without his mitts.

@NEPD_Loyko: #Alabama OG Anthony Steen is gunna get knocked.. his arms are 30 1/2 .. some teams will take him right off the board

Can I have the first T-Rex mention please?

@NEPatriotsDraft: CJF very safe prospect. Amaro more of a risk. RT @jeffphowe: Jace Amaro and C.J. Fiedorowicz have met with the Patriots.

Looks like most of the TEs will be on the radar.

Edit: Troy Niklas has also met with the Pats.

Wow! USC C Marcus Martin weighs in at 6' 3 4/8" and a whopping 320# per Jeremiah. 34" arms. Jeremiah notes: "Really good player, can play all 3 interior spots."

David Yankey measures 6' 5 5/8" 315# with 34" arms. Seems more like a tackle build than a guard build.

Hopefully it's 320 good pounds.

Yup probably too tall to be a guard here.

More from Josh Norris on Twitter:

- Colt Lyerla: 6'4" 242#, 32 3/4" arms, 10 1/4 cent brain.
- AC Leonard: 6'2" 252#, 33" arms, 9 1/4" hands.

Corrected.

I would hope the Pats do diligence with the TE position, among others, at the Combine. If they feel the position is very deep in the draft and they like several guys, they may be more inclined to focus on other needs in FA and address the position in the draft. Same with DT. I think this is an important time for the team to gauge the depth of the draft at key positions before starting free agency.

This is awesome! I'd love to have him as a UDFA and let him fight for a spot in camp.

With the 235th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots select . . .

T. rex, defensive lineman, UT/Permian Basin.

Come on out, T. rex.
