John,

Do you agree with the late Al Davis, who wanted the Broncos stripped of those two late 90s Super Bowl rings and ownership of the Broncos taken away, after the illegal secret contracts, to the tune of 29 million dollars, to you and Terrell Davis?

How hard is it to manage the salary cap? Are you tempted to cheat your way to the top, again, offering up "hidden" deferred salary?

When Denver was caught, forfeiting a third-round draft pick and fined nearly $1 million for the infraction, how did it happen again, three years later, with more sanctions for violating the same infraction, as ADDITIONAL payments to you relating to those championship years were uncovered?

Do these violations tarnish your legacy?

What if Roger Goodell were in charge back then. Would the Broncos even EXIST today?

Were the other NFL owners furious for good reason?

Wasn't this actually much worse than misplaced camera-gate IN 2007?.

Why do you think that Denver doing this, and San Francisco too, has been largely forgotten?

Do you ever hear taunts of "you haven't won anything since salary cap-gate"?

John?

How would you like to be the spokesperson for my exclusive club, Men Who Don't Look Like Horses ?

Not a chance. They don't have a fraction of the target that we have on our backs. Even more, the media doesn't care about it. No media attention = no chance of "truth" to the ignorant, casual fan. It's amazing how many people have suddenly become Manning/Bronco fans this season. That would NEVER happen in N.England. Part of me gets it, while part of me doesn't.

While you're at it, I wish someone would ask Roger Goodell why he insists on continuing to mess with a successful product? That'd be another great question.

I hate Horsemouth Elway and I hate Horseface Manning, and I wish nothing but bad things
to happen to them for the rest of their short (I hope) miserable lives, Amen.

While I'm no fan of the Broncos, Manning, Elway et al, I think wishing that their lives are short is a bit extreme, dear Captain.

John, can you still eat an apple through a picket fence, just like the old days?

How about this question:

"John--why don't the general public see you as the entitled, whiny, spoiled, surfer brat that you proved to be in the '83 draft, much like Peyton's brother Eli, when you outright refused to go to the team that wanted you?"

---------

And yet, somehow Tom Brady is the "smug, arrogant, nasty, evil" human being who everyone wants to see do poorly.....

You've got to love the misconceptions of the ignorant public as it relates to football.

I swear, if the Broncos lose, I'm going to spam PFT with "haven't won anything since cap-gate"

Please do.

I know many will disagree, but I'm having a hard time seeing how SEA is going to be able to not only stop all of those weapons, but also score enough points themselves. It's not like they are exactly a scoring machine. Obviously if they play tough and physical defense, they will have a shot, but I'm seeing DEN win, unfortunately.

We've had these discussions for years with Peyton vs the all too similar BAL teams who had some of the toughest defenses of their time, and yet Manning would still figure out a way to defeat them almost every single time.

I'll be rooting for SEA, but it's not like they've played great teams, and are a much different squad away from home. Hell, even we basically dominated them last season until Tavon Wilson decided to hand them the game with 2 late 4th quarter TDs.

A few things about this:

1. The Baltimore teams that you are referencing had truly horrible offenses. I don't think the same can be said about Seattle, who had arguably the MVP runner up as their QB to go along with a top running back.

2. I really think that the mobility of the quarterbacks is going to make a big difference in this game and give Seattle the advantage. We all know that Denver's defense has long been playing with enormous holes that they've held together with chewing gum. Guys who are fairly mobile, such as Tony Romo (he's no Vick, but can get away), and Andrew Luck were able to score on this team at will. On the other hand, Seattle's defense "struggled"- albeit not as bad as most teams- against guys like Colin Kaepernick and Luck who could add another dimension to the offense. I know that Manning's ball release and smarts are typically kryptonite to defenses, but I really think that his lack of mobility is going to hurt him against this defense.

In fact, this is the type of defense that should do well against Manning. We've seen that teams that "pin their ears back", such as Kansas City, always fall on their face against the likes of Brady and Manning, who use the pass rushers to their advantage by exposing the openings they create. Seattle's pass rush is more a result of outstanding coverage and the inevitable collapse of the pocket. Seattle held the Saints- another prolific passing attack with tons of weapons- to 22 points in two games combined.

3. Finally, not a knock on Manning, as I think most people on here are ridiculously jealous/insecure, but I swear I would take Russell Wilson over Manning in the 4th quarter of an epic game. Wilson is incredibly calm and reminds me of a young Brady.

4. I predict Seattle wins this game 27-24. Of course, a special teams touchdown or sudden fumble-itis can change everything.

John, When players in baseball have spectacular seasons they are more often than not found guilty of PEDs etc.. What do you have to say about your QB who had numerous neck surgeries and has come back better than ever and has even broken all the QB records known to man kind?

All fair points, and I certainly hope that you're right. I have a bit of difference of opinions regarding SEA's offensive power though, and they are certainly a different team away from home. 10-0 at home, yet 5-3 on the road with a couple of lucky escapes to hover a game above .500.

You see it as 27-24 SEA, while I probably see it as 27-17 DEN. As you said, SEA's ability to get Manning off his mark and create a defensive or ST's touchdown would go a long, long way towards changing the face of the game.

Seattle was 6-2 on the road, and one of those losses being a nail biter at SF in a desperation game for the Niners and a near meaningless game for the Seahawks. The other loss was to the Colts by 6 points. You might say they were 8 points away from an 8-0 road record rather than close to .500.

Denver was also 6-2 on the road with similar losses, to the Colts and Patriots (in a nail biter in a similar scenario as described above.)

True, Seattle is a force at home, but let's also remember they are not playing in Denver either.

Stop beating around the bush and tell us how you really feel.

I want people to get over Spygate. That was six years ago.

So I am not for drudging up a cheating controversy from 15 years ago. It is over. I don't care.

It's only bad if the Patriots do it, didn't you know?

Here's my pro football talk post, ready to post, often, when the Seahawks win:

The Broncos haven't won anything since they were caught cheating in the 90s, when they were secretly paying tens of millions of dollars to players under the table (salary cap gate).

If Goodell were in charge back then, instead of Paul Tagliabue, the owners like Al Davis who were furious and wanted the Broncos stripped of their two Super Bowl rings and wanted ownership of the Broncos to be taken away would have gotten their wishes.

It’s a shame that Denver and San Francisco pulled this off, winning multiple titles by cheating, fielding rosters that they could not have had legally under the salary cap rules. It is even more of a shame that their shenanigans have been largely forgotten.
