He's good around the LOS and in coverage.

What more could you possibly ask for?

hes solid rushing the passer and looks really good in coverage...you can definitely see why bill drafted him.

that interception was impressive how he fell back into coverage far back with his speed

Huge props to Pepper Johnson!

He raved about Collins all training camp, and to get this guy to how he played today is incredible.

The patriots are a coaching juggernaut. Amazing to watch!

Well.... I'd be all over the anti-Blount homers from the beginning of the season

There's quite a bit of 'expertise' that has looked stupid this year

Really never understood this crowd. Even when he wasn't playing to the insane level he is at right now, he only really hurt the team with the fumble against Cincinnati, which was a monsoon. I never understood why so many were so eager to get rid of him, he has proven in the past to be a very talented player.

It was good for his acumen to have Pepper coaching the defensive line, but I for one am happy to have him coaching what he knows best.

Dante is the star position coach on the team, and for excellent reason---it's really borderline insulting to even consider the Assistant Head Coach "just" a position coach. Long time rocks like Pepper Johnson and Ivan Fears deserve a lot of credit from the true fans for embodying what the team is all about.

I was one who wasn't too hot with the Blount signing in the beginning, but that was only b/c I felt as though he may not even end up making the team or being much of a factor if he did.

Obviously, we all know about his attitude problems, and he had developed a bit of a negative reputation for himself. On top of that, coming into the year he had historically fumbled at a much higher rate than Stevan Ridley, so that was a concern too.

I have never been one to say that he sucked or anything, but I will definitely admit that I was one who questioned whether it'd make much of a positive difference for us. Luckily, it was worked out wonderfully, and I hope he stays for the future.

The Collins INT was picture perfect, and his overall coverage has been an extremely welcoming sign for our struggles for a coverage LB.

I can't imagine how much this could help things in the future if he continues to progress. I am actually very excited for his growth and continued play.

We really did alright in this past draft in my opinion, and I'd be very happy to trade down/out of the 1st round again this year to stock up on a couple 2nd/3rd rounders again!

I was feeling good about Collins before tonight's game but I wasn't sure that his impact would be particularly big. I saw him as our most effective LB in coverage and an extremely athletic dude. But dayum tonight was not quite what I expected. He made an impact and was the best player on our defense. After what we witnessed against the Colts how can't we be ecstatic about his future? Looks like a damn good pick to me.

Since 2010, the Patriots have drafted the following impact players who still remain with and have performed admirably for the team:

2010 - Devin McCourty, Rob Gronkowski, Brandon Spikes.
2011 - Nate Solder, Stevan Ridley, Shane Vereen, Marcus Cannon.
2012 - Chandler Jones, Dont'a Hightower, Alfonzo Dennard.
2013 - Jamie Collins, Aaron Dobson, Logan Ryan, Duron Harmon.

Basically, you can bank on the Patriots getting a minimum of three players every season from the draft alone who will provide an immediate impact. This list doesn't include UDFAs or players who are solid contributors.

Still, Belichick can't draft if you listen to Hairspray Jr. on ESPN.

I know it's a somewhat bolder statement to make about wanting to trade down again before we even know who will be around, but I really think that doubling/tripling up in these higher 2nd/3rd round picks have helped us get younger on the fly. It increases the odds, and allows us to address more players and positions all at once, even assuming that some won't be working out.

Now...if a guy like CB Darqueze Dennard is somehow around when we're on the clock, then I would change my tune instantly.

Personally, I'd like to see the Patriots trade down and take another supposed college malcontent in Colt Lyerla if he's still available as a mid round pick. It's worked pretty darn well acquiring Blount and Dennard.

The Patriots have the environment to mould (most of) these boys into men.

That's good drafting indeed. But I wouldn't rank all 11 of those guys above the "solid contributor" level.

On the other hand, a certain murderer is missing from your list ...

Your answer to that query is in the first sentence Fencer (players still with the team). As for the rest, you're welcome to that appraisal. I include Special Teams play as solid contribution.

For all those that hate at Bill for going against his scouts advice on some players in the draft e.g. Wilson in 2012 and Harmon last year. He by all accounts did this with Collins too.

Sometimes you have to just trust Bill. They don't all work out but let's remember that hen he picks another so called "head scratcher" this year

Collins was not a "headscratcher" pick though. He killed it at the Combine.

NFL Events: Combine Player Profiles - Jamie Collins

Top tier measurements for:
- 40 yard dash
- Vertical
- Broad Jump
- 3 cone
- 60 yard shuttle

If Collins had signed with a bigger program such as Auburn (as originally planned) and starred there, I don't think he would have lasted to our pick in the 2nd. Collins also earned first team All Conference USA honors his senior season.

He was projected at #60 in the 2nd round by NFLdraftscout.com (CBS) --

I'm just hoping to see consistency from Collins in the future, because his upside and sheer athleticism are really tremendous.

i was so impressed about him...what a game !!!
