There's quite a bit of 'expertise' that has looked stupid this year
Huge props to Pepper Johnson!
He raved about Collins all training camp, and to get this guy to how he played today is incredible.
The patriots are a coaching juggernaut. Amazing to watch!
Really never understood this crowd. Even when he wasn't playing to the insane level he is at right now, he only really hurt the team with the fumble against Cincinnati, which was a monsoon. I never understood why so many were so eager to get rid of him, he has proven in the past to be a very talented player.
Since 2010, the Patriots have drafted the following impact players who still remain with and have performed admirably for the team:The Collins INT was picture perfect, and his overall coverage has been an extremely welcoming sign for our struggles for a coverage LB.
I can't imagine how much this could help things in the future if he continues to progress. I am actually very excited for his growth and continued play.
We really did alright in this past draft in my opinion, and I'd be very happy to trade down/out of the 1st round again this year to stock up on a couple 2nd/3rd rounders again!
Since 2010, the Patriots have drafted the following impact players who still remain with and have performed admirably for the team:
2010 - Devin McCourty, Rob Gronkowski, Brandon Spikes.
2011 - Nate Solder, Stevan Ridley, Shane Vereen, Marcus Cannon.
2012 - Chandler Jones, Dont'a Hightower, Alfonzo Dennard.
2013 - Jamie Collins, Aaron Dobson, Logan Ryan, Duron Harmon.
Basically, you can bank on the Patriots getting a minimum of three players every season from the draft alone who will provide an immediate impact. This list doesn't include UDFAs or players who are solid contributors.
Still, Belichick can't draft if you listen to Hairspray Jr. on ESPN.
Personally, I'd like to see the Patriots trade down and take another supposed college malcontent in Colt Lyerla if he's still available as a mid round pick. It's worked pretty darn well acquiring Blount and Dennard.I know it's a somewhat bolder statement to make about wanting to trade down again before we even know who will be around, but I really think that doubling/tripling up in these higher 2nd/3rd round picks have helped us get younger on the fly. It increases the odds, and allows us to address more players and positions all at once, even assuming that some won't be working out.
Now...if a guy like CB Darqueze Dennard is somehow around when we're on the clock, then I would change my tune instantly.

Your answer to that query is in the first sentence Fencer (players still with the team). As for the rest, you're welcome to that appraisal. I include Special Teams play as solid contribution. That's good drafting indeed. But I wouldn't rank all 11 of those guys above the "solid contributor" level.
On the other hand, a certain murderer is missing from your list ...
Sometimes you have to just trust Bill. They don't all work out but let's remember that hen he picks another so called "head scratcher" this year
Forza patriota!!!!!!
