Welker $6M/year
Colston: $7.26M /year
Amendola $5.54M/year
Manningham $3.65/year
Edelman has 1 year of elite production and is just 27 years old so he's got youth on his side. The Patriots know that read-and-react receivers are hard to come by, so they'll be competitive but won't break the bank. $10M/year invested in the slot position is way out of line.
My guess is someone else will overpay and he will leave.
What about Riley Cooper (he is racist but he'll conform) and Kenny Britt? Maybe that Patriot way can get him going?
Not a terrible crew - Dobson, Thompkins, Amendola, Britt and Cooper and if Britt is bleh then we still have Boyce.
This is a Plan B if Edelman leaves.

FWIW, they can cut Amendola after 2014 w/o messing up the cap too much.
And one other interesting note is that, unless things have changed, Minitron's agent is also TFB's agent.

Don't see how Nicks or Maclin are listed above EdelmanHere are the top 5 FA receivers IMO:
#1) Decker
#2) Nicks
#3) Maclin
#4) Edelman
#5) James Jones
Cooper, Britt, Jacoby Jones, Golden Tate, etc. are a notch below.

I could see people wanting to cut Danny and keep JE but amendola so far has 1 more full healthy season under his belt than Edelman. I would love to keep JE and dola.
On top of that, they didn't have one good year in a system that saw their poor QB have no other choice but to force them the ball due to a lack of any other realistic target.

To be fair, though, that's still a lower percentage (though not by much) than the percentage of passes that went Welker's way in 2012.
I'd rather trade Amendola than let Edelman go
On top of that Danny Amendola is probably better talent-wise in a handful of categories. If worst comes to worst, it's possible that Amendola will have to take a pay cut, but it's not like he'll have any other choice. Who else is going to pay him that much money? He'll have to stay here if he has 1/2 a brain.
