Richard Sherman: Brady not one of the top 5 smartest QBs

Most people who know what they are talking about would strongly disagree with Sherman. But why does it really matter?

He did say Brady is the hardest to intercept and has a strong arm.

Besides, he doesn't do a lot of film study on the Pats. If you look at it, the only AFC QBs he has on the list are Peyton and his old Stanford teammate, Andrew Luck. All the other guys are teams he played against more than once except Rodgers. He probably hasn't really watched a lot of film on Brady.

Rays lewis made a keen comment on brady several years ago regarding SB 38. Lewis said brady is a chess master and recognized that when the defense is in cover 2 you're best bet is to dump it off to the RB when he's one on one with the LB. It was a simple screen to kevin Faulk on third down but a huge play in the game - he didn't force the ball downfield or try to throw into a tight window. He's not looking out to be the hero but trying to win the game.

Ah, so it's Peyton Manning's smarts that cause him to throw backbreaking pick sixes in crucial moments during playoff games, according to Sherman.

Well as a DB (there's a double entendre there) wouldn't he prefer QBs to throw interceptions. I think Sherman is smart enough to know what gets people talking and that's blasting the Patriots/Brady in general. it would raise his profile for being quoted/retweeted/...mission accomplished.

I wonder how he would feel if he had to face Brady with a loaded/healthy set of players.

He threw a game winning touchdown in the SuperBowl......to the other team (pick six to the Saints to seal the game)

And threw 7 INTs in the post-season he won the SuperBowl. More than double the amount of TDs he threw in that post-season.

Most INTs Brady has thrown in a season has been 14. Manning has surpassed that 7 times.

Such INT numbers do not equate to "smart".

But we're gonna leave Brady out of the smartest QBs in the league? Oh ok....
