Solid draft, love Swanson, Jones, and Lynch over Jensen for sure and even Long later on but the other picks are questionable to me, rather tale Gaffney, DAT, or even Redd over Neal and I like Belue although ****rell would fit nicely as well from Duke. Wentworth is a nice pick too although I'd prefer Gates fro, UGA or the 6'9 monster in Matt Hall.

Tom Curran tweeted out a new site. They have Swanson at 107. I even asked the guy if that's how he felt. He said yes, but thinks he might go a little bit higher. Wasn't big on D. Jones either. I like both players. If we could get them at 2 and 3, with Amaro in the first. That's a win/win/win situation.

I realise this mock probably doesn't score that well on excitement, but I think it actually works fairly well.

Note: I'm assuming Enron, Amaro, Hageman and Tuitt are gone before we pick. This mock also allows for the possibility of Talib and Blount leaving as well as one of Wilfork or Kelly.

Sign

Scott Chandler or Jake Ballard

This gives us a reasonable backup to Gronk.

Round One

Travis Swanson, OC, Arkansas

With TE taken care of (sort of) in FA and prospects like Ebron, Amaro, Dennard, Hageman and Tuitt all getting further out of reach, Swanson fits nicely in terms of fit and need. He would be behind those names on my big board personally but I do like the fit.

Round Two

Louchiez Purifoy, CB, Florida

He isn't my favourite CB by any means but his athleticism, length, special teams excellence and Florida connection make him a possible Patriot.

Round Three

Zach Mettenberger, QB, LSU

Can spend a year on IR and then takes over from Mallet almost as a like for like replacement. Mettenberger has legitimate future starter skills so I think represents excellent 3rd value.

Round Four

Billy Turner, OL, North Dakota State

One of the better linemen in this draft at getting to the second and third levels which is a must in our offense. Has excellent size to play at guard for us. Also provides extra cover at LT which is pertinent at the moment.

Round 6A

Trade to New Orleans for Mark Ingram

This is my pet theory at the moment.

Round 6B

Shamar Stephen, DT, UConn

I like his value better than Daquan Jones and his all roundedness better than Carrethers and at 6-5 and 318lbs has really good Patriot size.

Round 6C

Trey Burton, HB, Florida

Ideally he needs to add a few pounds to be a legitimate dual threat as a move TE but Burton has genuine sub 4.50 speed and at 225lbs makes for someone who can be used in a variety of ways. I see the potential for a tremendous camp competition between him and Mark Harrison for that flex position on the offense.

Round 7

David Fluellen, FB, Toledo

Nimble feet, runs with intelligence and a quality receiving back. Offers some decent cover behind Vereen.
Like this mock a lot. Although Mettenberger may fall a lot later I do like him as a QB who needs a TB12 education in Foxborough. Love Swanson and Purifoy a long with the trade for Ingram and the Stephen selection looks interesting. I'd replace Turner, Burton, and Fluellen with Urschel, Malena/DAT/Redd, and Millard respectively and be more than happy to call it my own

I like Belue although ****rell would fit nicely as well from Duke.

A little Trick of the Trade, if you or others care to use it, Bro, and avoid what I imagine is annoying to you:

If you color one letter of the Text black, you can mention Cockrell without getting bleeped.

This is one of my favorite parts of the whole PatsFans forum. I really appreciate the work you guys put into this, very interesting and informative to us college "FootBall" (that's an homage there, Fanatic Yankee) ignoramuses!

Or Danny Woodcock. :singing:

Aside from Vince Wilfork, the New England Patriots need to purge the defense of the over 30 crowd:

Wilson, Adrian
Carter, Andre
Kelly, Tommy
Sopoaga, Isaac
Gregory, Steve

Besides, the New England Patriots need the cap savings to sign a cornerback in the unrestricted free agent market.

For good measure, Marquice Cole should never wear a New England Patriots uniform ever again.

hahaha thanks man

Not sure how'd he be in New England or if Kraft would pay him but how would everyone like Tillman as a Talib replacement if Talib leaves? Should be cheaper than you'd expect

Why should he be cheaper than we'd expect?

Right, let's have a go (hog-centric and no comp picks)....

Round 1: Eric Ebron, TE, UNC.

Round 2: Travis Swanson, C, Arkansas

Round 3: DeAndre Coleman, DT, California

Round 4: Zack Martin, OG, Notre Dame

Round 6: Aaron Lynch, DE, USF

Round 6: Cornelius Lucas, OT, Kansas State

Round 7: Isaiah Lewis, S, MSU

That strengthens some pretty big holes.

Here we go.

Round 1 - Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE Washington
Not sure why people are so down on him. He had a down year but if you actually watched him play he was barely part of the passing game but was opening huge holes for Sankey to run.

Round 2 - Weston Richburg, C Colorado State
I wanted Swanson but as he's looking like a 1st round here's my backup plan. He's very very good in pass protection, something brady is lacking desperatly. Still plenty to learn and probably not as ready as swanson but i'd take him here.

Round 3 - Joel Bitonio, OL Nevada
Again, i wanted Scherff but he's not available so i get the closest thing to him. This kid is severely underated in the interwebz but scouts are not sleeping on him.
Very Athetic, smart, team captain, versatile..bye bye conolly.

Round 4 - Kevin Pierre-Louis, LB, Boston College
This might look odd i get it, but follow me.
Lets say Spikes leaves. Fletcher is a FA and the other kid from rutgers has barely seen the field. So we have, Collins, Hightower and Mayo. Kind of thin, no?
So what do we do? We grab a fast guy, somewhat a LB/S hybrid to help out on the increasing nickel and dime packages. Wanted a cover LB? Solved!

There are other options here obviously, namely Jean-Baptiste but this guy intrigues me.

Round 6 - Storm Johnson, RB, UCF
Off the Grid says he's a Beast, who am i to disagree?

Round 6 - Trey Millard, FB, Oklahoma
Could be a nice weapon. Let him heal properly and learn quietly before making a splash.

Round 6 - Brent Urban, DL, Virginia
Binkie 4eva!!!

Round 7 - Crokett Gilmore, TE, Colorado State
Wait, what? Another Colorado State guy? pff thats a long shot.
I didnt want to double dip on TE's but i like him and we need so..whatever.
I woulndt mind Tyler Starr here too, that kid will be a steal.

That came out longer than i wanted.
Flame away!

optimistic mock draft
1. Ra'shede hagemen
2. Austin Sefarian Jenkins
(hopes he drops enough to get him here and he will be a steal)
3. Weston Richburg
nice center here to beef up the line could go for zach martin but im not sure he will be there
4. Gabe Jackson
OG that we need and was viewed as a potential first rounder earlier this year but has seemed to drop ill take him
5. Stanley Jean Baptiste
possible steal this late
6. deandre Coleman double dipping at DT solid
7. Ben Gardner
Stanford DE why not late rounds

more realistic
1. Eric Ebron/ASJ
2. zach martin
3. Dominique Easley/Anthony johnson
4. Tyler Larsen
5. Stanley JP
6. Dri archer
7. Trey Millard

If New England is on the clock and both Ebron and Amaro are still on the board, does BB go TE with his first pick and then come back with DT in the second round?

Hah!! Love this!! :D

I don't care to pick apart other guys's Visions, so I won't go into detail, but I just had to say...

1 ~ Love the inclusion of Crockett!! I haven't broken'm down at all, mind you, so it's very possible that I'll end up UFAing'm, but I was watching Tape on another guy, just a couple days ago, literally, and Crockett kept standing out!! Again: Only two or three Plays, but my first impression is that I love the guy!! :rocker:

2 ~ Thanks for the Shout Out regarding Brother Storm, Brother Stel!! I love that kid, and of course his QuarterBack, Blake Bortles, is a SuperBinky of mine!! :rocker:

3 ~ Props to you and Brother Brit!! Grizzly Heavy, baby!!

I think the "marginal utility" (I'm slightly misapplying the term, but it works) from a first-round TE will exceed the marginal utility from a first-round DT.

I think he'd go TE. If you mean the te is the better player, I'm getting your drift. I don't think both are there. Unless we drop to the 3 seed and lose in the first round. Then, we're picking 21-24. If we're picking 26-30, I doubt both te's are there.

Can someone with ESPN insider post who McShay has the Pats drafting?
Thanks.....
